I need a back protector and think I'm going for D3O (seems to be well thought-of and I already have some D3O hip armour which I do rate.
There are quite a few available (level 2, size XL) from different manufacturers; eg: Held (£30), Furygan (£36), Klim (£50), Rukka (£75).
Is there really going to be any difference between these, given they are all level 2? Any reason to buy, say, Rukka rather than Held at 2.5 times the price? (I suppose the dearer ones could be 'better' than CE level 2, but looking at Rukka's website they make no such claim about their back protector, just that it 'meets' level 2.
(Or am I on to a hiding to nothing with D3O - is there better out there?) ____________________ KC100->CB100N->CB250RS--------->DL650AL2->R1200RS->R1250RS |

I took the D3O rudimentary 'rectangle' out of my jacket and wear a Forcefield separate protector which straps to me rather than residing in the jacket. I've no evidence to suggest that the D3O item is poor just that I think the Forcefield is better. Feels nice on and covers much more of the spine. This is the variant I have: https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_prod/195413 |
