Got my licence back today after my test pass in June, and I'm a bit puzzled about the categories on it. I've read through all the DVLA/DSA bumph that came with it, and been on the website, but no joy.

So I thought I'd ask you lot cos you're good at this kind of thing!

I have a CatA entitlement on my photocard now, with the 25kW (33bhp) restriction shown. But instead of showing this entitlement ending in 2 years time and me being able to ride unrestricted, it shows this category as being valid for the life of my licence! Does this mean that when my 2 years are up I need to send the licence away AGAIN to have the correct category put on it? Or have they got it wrong?

Anyone else been here and could advise?

Someone on here checked with the DVLA when their 33bhp restriction ended, you don't have to pay for a new photocard or paper driving license. It gets lifted automatically at their end, you can buy a new updated license if you wish but there is no legal requirement to. Thumbs Up

I recently checked with the DVLA, and they told me that even though it says =<25kw after 2 years that doesn't apply, as anyone that needs to see the licence will see the date the licence was gained next to it etc.

If I wanted to remove it I could but by paying £19 and applying for a replacement one.
