Anyone know anything about this bike, a GSX-R150 ? (see link below) I am thinking about buying one next time I get home. In the link it is 156,000 peso (£2,166) Not having been back in the UK for a while, I don't know if they are available, possibly just the 125cc version, but it looks pretty nice.

Pretty sure the 150 is for Asian markets. No point in Europe, you need a full license to ride it and it offers little over the 125.

Got it in one. Tiniest bit more torque but it still has the same gearbox so no real speed gains, just gets to its top speed a little quicker.

Never quite understood why we're restricted at 125cc and everyone else gets larger.

Blame Yamaha.

Ironically, the 125cc's that were developed afterwards weren't a million miles behind on power to weight ......

It's nice Suzuki 125 has DOHC like 150. And it's short stroke.
while Honda 125 has SOHC while 150 has DOHC.
I reckon Suzuki tried to make 125 a fun toy while Honda tried to make 125 a learner's bike.

Honda just understand the market better.

If you can only ride a 125, for the most part my bet is you don't know the difference between SOHC and DOHC, most probably couldn't tell you a 4 stroke from a 2 stroke.

Kids buy bikes based on looks and labels first and foremost. When they all make 14bhp give or take a tad, street cred us what counts

I agree Honda knows better doing business. But I like Suzuki doing different from Honda and others.
Suzuki sells both GSX-R125 and GSX-S125 in Japan too while others sells tiny Groms and scooter only in our small 125 market. Smile

Good replies, thanks

'Thatdippytwat' is correct it is for Asian markets, but just didn't know if any had made it to the UK. The 125cc is of course the norm.
I am going to buy it in the Philippines (that's home for me these days) and tearing around there on anything much bigger is not something I recommend. My last few bikes have been all 1000cc couple of Blades, Gixer thou, R1 up to a Hayabusa so not a noob to bikes. When I get it I will post a few pick back to this thread, but won't be until I get back home middle of next month from China. It's just exciting planning a purchase.

cheers guys Thumbs Up

Pretty sure I saw a 150 and a 125 in J and S this weekend. May be wrong though...
