I have 3 Squire SS65CS Stronghold Locks and ive noticed the locks getting stiff, and on really cold mornings i cant get a key in.

Ive had these locks over 3 years and its only now im having problems, they obviously need re oiling.

Im sure normal oil is a bad idea and it usually dries gritty eventually and i dont want that in my locks!

Anyone have any recommendations?

Diesel, you could drop them in a jar with some in.
The key Rolling Eyes is to maintain regularly with WD40 or similar.

Initially penetrating fluid wait for it to vaporise then add some graphite lubricant.

It's what people recommend for car locks in the spring after people melt them open with hot water.

Graphite powder is all you need.
Oil is a bit of a cnut in lock as shit will stick to it. And if it gets on the key you could ruin a pair of light coloured slacks too.

Search Graphite powder on ebay. About a 5er a bottle. Will last for ages.

Adware delivers.

Pound up some pencil lead. Or a locksmiths.

But ebay. Or amazon.

in fairness, silicone lube spray would probably do a fair job too.

I use brake cleaner to clean my ignition barrel when it starts getting sticky, give it a good squirt then leave it to dry and stick a little graphite down the barrel.

Just a word of warning about graphite and ignition locks.

An ignition lock has an electrical switch at the bottom of it. Graphite conducts electricity. You can see where this is going?

So silicone spray for ignition locks.
