99 r1, headlight issues?

1999 yzf R1 (4xv),
It seems this issue comes up in various combinations but I am struggling with this one.

It has daytime running headlights, everything worked a few months ago, took it out for a ride a few weeks ago after laying it up in the garage over winter and noted the headlights weren't working (it was daytime at that time).

I have run a HID kit in the past however i'd taken off for MOT a fair while back (suggested to melt connector blocks?).

Symptoms. side lights work.

Start her up and the headlights don't come on (should illuminate at this point).
Full beam switch does nothing.

However, passing light will light the main beams and if the head light is switched from low/high with the passing light on the right headlight relay can be head clicking (as well as the left head light light relay when the passing light is pressed).

I've checked the fuse - fine. Connectors all the way up the RHS have no signs if arching/melting and in good order, cleaned, WD40'd and still no headlights.

I suspect it's not the relays as I can hear them operate (admittedly only) when the passing light is pressed, does anyone have any experience with this issue? Is there a known fix?

Next step is to get out the wiring diagram and start checking connectors for voltage.

Power to the hi/lo switch or the switch itself is bolloxed. The passing switch is powered seperately.

Behind the left hand fairing panel there is a large multi-pin connector that takes all of the feeds to the upper fairing area.In the past I have found quite a bit of corrosion within the block,especially the lower pins,on quite a number of R1s that I have worked on.It is worth checking that first Thumbs Up

Well played Fizzer, after checking the switches for continuity I returned to the white block and gave it another good going over... that seemed to do the trick.
