I have some work to do on the SV (news discs, swing arm bearings) but no way of raising the bike.

I've been looking at this type of thing:

Do they work ok for "sports" bikes? Where do they sit under the frame? I can see myself creating a set of custom bent exhaust pipes and oil filter.

It has to be <£130 as I'll probably only use it a couple times but will still be cheaper than 3hrs+ of labour. This one is £130 from Machine Mart.

p.s. my roof is not strong enough to hoist anything

ABBA stand for the win.

If not, centre stand and tied down to something solid at the front?

My FZ didn't have a problem being like that when I stripped her to replace the whole back end;

Abba stand looks perfect. Where does it attach though? Looks like from the side where my R&G fairing bungs are. Would I just screw them out and screw the Abba supports in?

Abba stand is generally used on the swingarm spindle (or otherwise suggested area by manufacturer.)

My friend bought one for his Yammy Vulcan, it wasn't quite right (wasn't actually listed for his bike on the website) but they ended up taking measurements and making up the cups for his bike. So if they don't do a kit for your bike, they WILL help you make one up.

And yeah, he has to remove panels to get the stand on, but it's well worth it.

You can buy a "swingarm removal kit" it was about £15-20 when I got it about ~10 years ago, it screws into the footrest mount.
