Topcashback are offering via Coral bookies £55 for a £10 sports bet. Never used the Topcashback site, seems legit, £55 back, so you would be £45 up. Not sure if there is a catch or not?

Here Beginneth the Lesson on TopCashBack.
Topcashback are totally legit, so assuming it works the cash will get paid to you direct as cash, not betting credit. The only potential 'catch', if you can call it that, is that the cashback is never 100% guaranteed; it depends on the retailer paying it to TCB in the first place, and therefore potentially on the integrity of that retailer. It doesn't often fail if you do it properly and make sure your browser cookies are able to track, but yes it does happen.
Now normally this doesn't 'matter' as such, because the golden rule of using cashback sites is that you don't ever count on getting paid. The idea is (at least from the perspective of punters like you and me) that you choose your widget, insurance policy, mobile contract, gym subscription etc etc online, and when you're happy with the deal, go look at TCB to see if they support the online retailer you've already picked. If they do, you go to the retailer via TCB and hopefully collect the cashback they are offering; however, if for some reason it doesn't work, then you are no worse off than if you hadn't gone via TCB in the first place. Geddit?
What you don't do is look at TCB, see which retailers offer the best cashback deal, and on that basis pick that retailer despite the actual purchase being more expensive. By the same token therefore, if you have to spend (ie waste) £10 on a bet that you weren't going to make in the hope of earning £45 cashback, then worst case scenario is that you end up £10 down on the deal. And if I was looking for retailers who might be less likely than average to pay the cashback, I reckon a bookie will be pretty high up the list!
I looked just now, and Coral are offering £52.50 for a £20 casino bet, or £30 for a £10 sports bet (I don't see the OP's £45. I'm not interested in that, for reasons described above
Just for the record though - for example, I changed utility providers a couple of weeks ago, and chose EDF as being the cheapest current deal. Turns out that TCB were offering £70 cashback, which is now tracking successfully in my account, so I will get that assuming I don't change providers again within the next few months. I also did a motor insurance quote through Confused.com, went via TCB and got £2.50, just for getting the quote (which I didn't follow up on).
Also - last year I bought an insurance policy through Admiral, expecting a nice £42 cashback, but the bastards (ie Admiral) declined it for no reason that they will divulge. But I was buying the policy anyway, so meh.
tl;dr: - TopCashBack is a complete no-brainer if you use it properly
Here Endeth the Lesson
(If having read this you want to sign up maybe consider using my Topcashback referral link to do so? - its no skin off your nose either way, but I get a bit of cashback if you do... ) ____________________ KC100->CB100N->CB250RS--------->DL650AL2->R1200RS->R1250RS |

You need to follow the terms and conditions very closely if getting cashback from a bookie or casino.
In particular watch out for them saying you're not eligible for the cashback if you've already got an account at [insert names of other bookies and casinos]. There'll also be something about how many times you have to wager your deposit.
"What you don't do is look at TCB, see which retailers offer the best cashback deal, and on that basis pick that retailer despite the actual purchase being more expensive."
As long as you're careful with following the terms and conditions, it's well worth including cashback when deciding which insurance company / utility provider / retailer for an expensive purchase / etc etc etc.
Bookies and casinos are amongst the worst for having awkward small print and not being forthcoming with the cashback. Lots of them gamble on whether you'll bother to do a missing cashback claim. |

Nah. Assuming you've done a few of these, have you genuinely received cashback every single time?
There's two stages to getting it to work (as you'll be aware) - first, get it to track properly which is all about cookies and stuff; ie, it's basically mechanical and can go wrong if you aren't careful; once that happens and it's tracking there should be no reason why the cashback should get declined unless you've done something dodgy like trying to get two sets of discounts on the same deal. The Admiral example I used above - there was absolutely no reason at all for that to get bounced, and nobody will/can tell me why, and there's no pressure from anywhere for them to do so.
Another time, I bought a laptop plus separate case expecting £40 or £50 TopCashBack, but that was bounced too; again with no explanation. I'm pretty sure the reason must have been that the case was out of stock at the time, and the retailer therefore changed my order into two separate ones under different invoice numbers which therefore didn't tally up with the original tracking. Again, no incentive anywhere for anyone to sort it out, as the cashback was not guaranteed and there was no contract involved that I could complain about. But again, I wasn't overly fussed as the cashback offer hadn't influenced my choice of retailer.
Very much the minority experience though; having put pretty well all my families' mobile contracts and insurance policies, my annual utility company change etc etc, through either Quidco or TCB over the last ~15 years or so, I've netted well over £2000 from them ____________________ KC100->CB100N->CB250RS--------->DL650AL2->R1200RS->R1250RS |

You disagreed my post saying "No, its not paid as a free bet"??
Whatever promotional offer the casino or bookies offer for new registration and first deposit of £xx are seperate from the cashback promotion.
You deposit £10, you spend the £10, you get £30 cashbacks. It really is that simple.
When you sign up and deposit £10, they give you a £50 bonus which has to be wagered 24 times. Should by chance after doing £1,200 of bets your balance is more than £30 then you withdraw that and you probably won't get the cashback as well.
However the chances are you'll end up losing your £10 and £50 bonus money before completing the wagering requirements.
With big companies like Coral the cashback is much less likely to be problematic than some smaller unheard of company.
You need to read the terms and conditions and follow them to the letter because if you don't then the house will win. |
