So Zarco is showing what the old Yams can do.
Lorenzo is sometimes quick but can't beat Desmo Dovi.
Crabby Crutchlow is doing well on the Honda.

This is the season where Mark Marquez sets his name in stone?
Rossi...his style has changed....again. Cool
Vinny on #25. Head gone?

Race is about to start.

[edit]

What a race!

That was a fun day's racing, in total the 3 classes were decided by less than two-tenths of a second. It should be an excellent year!

Great start to the season, really is a bit of a golden era at the moment. At one stage the top six were a factory and customer bike from Ducati, Yamaha and Honda followed by a Suzuki if I remember right. Top stuff.

When will Rossi realise he's getting on a bit? Beginning to think he won't retire 'til he's 46 Laughing

ANOTHER crash by Lowes, given his crash rate last year is a big part of what saw him forced out of Aprilia, can't help but wonder what his team are thinking. Can blame it on false neutrals all he likes, but they're all on the same engines! I wish he was a real title contender, but I don't see it.

McPhee McFailed to impress as usual. Shame there isn't any fresh British talent in moto3!

What a race!

Given that the track isn't a Honda / Marquez favourite and he came a relatively easy second ( no way he was getting past Dovi though Very Happy ) I'd say he's got as good a chance as last year.

Closest race I've seen for a long time and all the better for that.

All it takes is broken collar bone wrist etc and everything on its head again. Crabby Crutch fell off over 20 times last year and as each season passes the baby-faced assassin #93 becomes less bouncy and the odds are closing. Think it was 27 offs last season for the grinner, but yes he's already the strong defender.

I used to do the whole back the Brits thing but now I just love a good race and if pushed I'd say I like Zarco....want him to carry on dishing out the dodgy overtakes ala marquez and lest we forget Rossi and how he pushed the boundaries of close racing.

...and c'mon Loz #99. Love that man's style. Cool

Vive la Zarc!

It was a game of chess until the last few laps. Felt bad for Zarco having led the race for so long.

Zarco shows again that he's fast but not intelligent and still has to learn strategy.

The 3 in the podium showed exactly the opposite: great strategy and knowledge of what they were doing.

In my opinion the title this year will be again between Dovi and Marquez with a 70% to Marc and 30% Dovi. As someones told before, if Marc had an "easy" 2nd place on this track, that means he will be very strong on "his" circuits. I don't think the yamahas will be regular enough to be on the real fight for the championship.

I've not seen the whole lap, but the clip of him nearly getting spat off was impressive!

So a couple of them did almost one lap before deciding no way, whilst Jack stayed out and got pole on his second lap on slicks.

What a dude. Cool Bike handling skills or what.

Mixed-up grid on a wet track...looking like another good race.
The old Ducatis seem to be liking the conditions.

Well that was a right shambles and some filthy racing. A well deserved 1 2 3 though.

Total farce, making the rules up as you go along!

Highlight was Uccio telling Marquez to FRO, in no uncertain terms!

Never liked MM, still don't, he's been doing what he did today ever since he got into the MotoGP class. Hopefully race direction will take some further action, a race ban or back of the grid would be nice!

Whole load of punting off.

Who would've thought the Moto2 class would be the grownups over the weekend.

See ... MM admittedly riding like a dick BUT .....

No action taken on Kannet ( however you spell it ) who punted someone off.

No action taken on Zarco for effectively punting Pedrosa.

Race Direction for NOT escorting MM back to pit lane after stalling. if the move is so illegal then why was he allowed to do it in the first place in front of everyone.

The utter utter fudge up over the start that murdered Millers chances. As said elsewhere many times, what's the point in flag to flag.

Messy race but a well deserved 1 2 3 either way.

Just now :

“Marquez is destroying our sport.” Cites multiple instances when MM has ridden dangerously in recent outings. Doesn’t feel safe when he’s on track with him.

If you start to play like this you raise to a very dangerous level..why he have to do like this and the other riders cannot do?.. they (rd) have a big responsibility.. this is him, in the last 15 races he is like this.. this year he make also worst..”

“I’m ok, but this is a very bad situation, he destroyed our sport because he don’t have any respect for rivals..1 by 1 can happen..you can make a mistake.. but from Friday morning he make like this.. he do purposely, he point the leg between the leg and the bike..”

“sincerely I don’t feel protect from race direction..nothing happen..next race if nothing happen he’ll do the same.. I’m very upset.. I don’t have fun to fight with him.. he don’t play clean..he don’t play aggressive, he play dirty”

“he start from Friday with maverick..fortunately maverick see him..5 times in one weekend? For me is purposefully”

on apology

“is a joke..he don’t have the balls to come in my office alone..he don’t care about you..I know it’s not true what he say to me..”

“I was not strong, why you don’t overtake me in the next corner? He come to me & he entry purposely in me, in my leg, to make me out of the line.. I don’t have any relationship with Márquez after 2015, it change nothing..if he don’t have respect of me, I don’t have respect”

Media scrummage for #93

Maybe the biggest mistake was with Aleix, I arrive 4 second faster..I try 100% to avoid contact, I say sorry.. with Valentino I think I didn’t make anything crazy..i take wet patch, lock the front..I try to say sorry..”

I know that if the bike is off I need to go off but bike the run..I ask pitlane or grid, at that time he didn’t know..(he felt he was given permission to be on the grid)” didn’t understand ride-through

“I just focus on my box and I know what happen..today I did a few mistakes..I will try to improve..I’m very happy for the race because the pace was very good..”

“I’m disappointed, in my career I never go straight to 1 rider thinking he will crash, always I try to avoid..was a mistake, consequence of the track conditions..I think he (Rossi) is wrong”

Hand bags for another two weeks.

Anyone hear Cal's quote in the post race interviews about the lack of media there? Laughing

Personality wise I find Cal difficult to support...same with Jorge and to a lesser extent Rossi.
His reaction should have been happy-face-happy-face-Positive outlook-happy face-Team etc-happy face-watch this space.

Instead I saw angry face- shouty shout-aggressive gesture-happy face...bitch about lack of media--boast about 'I wouldn't leave the garage if i thought I wouldn't win'.

as for 46 and 93.

Race control should have nipped this in the bud after the Philip Island round in 2015(that's the one before the Sepang incident). Race control needs an overhaul.
We are are not getting firm but fair decisions.

Some say 46 is now receiving some of the moves he once dished out to others. He is but in my opinion Vale is right. Marquez has overstepped the line into too dangerous.
He could've overtaken (and did with some others) Rossi in a better place but the red mist descended. IIRC his next lap was fastest of the race, only proving he could take Rossi easily.

1 Race ban is less likely to happen now that Pedrosa has broken his wrist...it'd leave an empty Honda garage.

Do you really want it to end up like F1 with so many penalties it ruins the races.
Personally i like marc because hes aggressive, its not flower arranging its supposed to be dangerous (within reason).
I actually thought it looked more like panic rather than arrogance, ie i done fucked up i better get to the front as soon as, who really knows.

Rubbing will always be part of racing although racing isn't a contact sport so it's down to direction from race control and RC could be firmer in how they get their point across to riders (and Teams) without resorting to fines which only hurts the smaller teams.

Mike Webb should've penalised Canet....that sends out a message.
Like many I've seen Marc Marquez come through the ranks and watch his bio-pic. He's a likeable chap but is definitely prone to the reckless. Moreso than any other rider I can recall. His Moto2 years displayed lack of mental control. Which written down appears over the top but I can't think of a better way that describes what he did when he took out 2 riders.

He himself after PI in 2015 has said that rubbing a tyre up someone's leathers is acceptable if we didn't want bike racing to end up like F1.

He doesn't need to be so brash or do what Rossi got away with in his younger years, he's fast, exciting and if he reigns it in a little aided by Management and Team Mike Webb it'll still make for excellent racing.
Zarco, Iannone are other riders who have reigned it in a little......err so far. Smile
