Tyreleader are the cheapest I have found. Mail order is free or you pay for express.

I use them all the time.

Some bike shops can be 'competitive' if you consider a roll in roll out service (If they have the tire in stock).
No sitting at home waiting for a DH-Effing-El van. Smile

This^^

If you're on a budget you won't do much better. They wear faster than, say, a PR3 but they're grippy and dependable in wet and dry conditions. Thumbs Up

There's some decent looking pair deals on Ebay

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Pirelli-Angel-ST-Tyre-Pair-120-70-160-60-zr17-KAWASAKI-ER6-N-2005-2014/173220493309?hash=item2854bef7fd:g:nCcAAOSwux5YSYCx

A little more expensive but they are excellent tyres
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Motorcycle-Tyres-Metzeler-Roadtec-Z8-INTERACT-120-70-ZR17-160-60-ZR17-Aprilia/162458384044?epid=1357532849&hash=item25d34636ac:g:EKwAAOSwmgJY4-kq

Avon Storm or 3D supersports are about the same price too, I know some who love Avon and swear by them, others swear at them.

All I know is the only tyres which I have tried that made poo come out were Dunlops, qualifiers, never again.

You think £279 is bad, I got raped for £334.40 getting new tyres for my Brutale at short notice.

I got a bad puncture two days before I was due to ride to the Alps, and my regular place (Burwin motorcycles on Essex road) couldn't remove the rear nut. They referred me to Rosso Corse in Bethnal Green, just off Globe Road, Ducati specialists.

I didn't have a choice. I needed new tyres.

Turns out they gave me Pilot Power 3 rear instead of PR4 that I asked for, and when I pointed out that PP3 is cheaper than PR4 anywhere you look that sells both, chap said actually they charged me for PP3!

So I strongly recommend you don't go anywhere near Rosso Corse.

(And my rear nut wasn't seized or anything like it; it just needed more time with a close fitting socket and an air gun. Torque spec on the rear wheel nut is just short of 200Nm.)

The first time my third SH300 was stolen was in Bethnal Green, and it was found just south of Mile End, so probably.

Get a grip boys (Geddit?).

I don't skimp on tyres and I've found Michelin PR series to be about the best and I'm not interested in anything cheaper.

Sure, my local(ish) tyre place will do a set of PR4s for just over £200 but they only fit to loose wheels. So going there means removing the wheel, driving to the tyre place, coming home and refitting the wheel. That's 2 hours plus a few quid in fuel.

Rinse and repeat for the other wheel.

So 4 hours buggering about getting my hands dirty to save 50 quid. No thanks.

OTOH, I can earn the money to pay someone else in less time than it takes to do it myself.

I accept that if you're young, poor or stingy you may value your time differently but personally I'm done with dicking around to save a few quid and I'd happily pay £279 for a set of premium tyres fitted on a roll in / roll out basis.

It is not about being cheap. I do not trust anyone to work on my bike. Also I dont have to take a day off to get it done during silly office hours. I can have the wheel offf, tyre swapped andd back on quicker than I can drive to my preffered 20 miles away.

That said, it is common for new rear tyres to get punctured, therefore I consider nearly new puncture repairs to be better than new. A repaired, better than new PR4 costs 60 quid deliverd. Half price and better.

New front pr4 is 75 quid, but for summer, better option is a part worn racetec/super corsa for 30 quid delivered. Total cost 90.

Sods law. Most punctures, probably 90%, happen to rear tyres that are under 300 miles old. Previously repaired tyres do not seem to get punctures until they are worn out.

My last purchase.. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Metzeler-Roadtec-01-180-55zr17-73w-180-55-17-Part-Worn-Tyre-972/253477995893 full tread, with centre moulding marks. Repair is near the edge but perfectly acceptable..

Fuck!

I must be doing something wrong. Shocked

I've had loads of new back tires/tyres fitted and not had a puncture when they were new.

Does this 'rule' apply to the back tires of cars, vans, trucks, buses and baby prams too?
