I have a 94 zx600e that I have done a lot of work to and finally had it running, but once I could finally get it on the road it started sputtering if I tried to crack the throttle open, then would catch and go for a while, but each day it seems to be getting worse and finally yesterday it died and will not start now and is back firing some. I just had carbs rebuilt, plugs put in at the same time, but the bike was still not being ridden for serveral months sense those repairs were done. Battery is holding a 12.7v then when bike was running it would gradually go up to 13.8-14v+ so to me that says the battery is fine, but I may be wrong?? Neutral Please HELP!! its hard for me to believe it could be the plugs, carbs or filter as it was in the shop 4 months ago and had all service done, just did not ride it much until the last few weeks but did start it up and run at idle numerous times.

It doesn't sound like a battery problem, however if it improved after putting it on charge fixing that would be easier than diagnosing more serious problems.
Sounds like carbs or air leak to me, probably something fairly trivial once discovered.

might be water in the fuel, try draining the float bowls.

This happened after a full charge of the battery, I keep it on tender/maintainer over night during the winter and colder nights. Could the plugs be fouled from putting multiple additives to the fuel? i.e. HEET, and SEAFOAM? How do you drain the bowls on this bike without taking carbs apart? I think I will try that and replacing the plugs first sense those are cheap for NGK.

Oh it did have a previous emission system on it that was removed so how would I check for the air or vacuum leak?

Sounds a bit like gradual fuel starvation , start by undoing the fuel taps and cleaning out the filters in the tank. Well that would be my place to start.
Might be worth checking the voltage at the coil with the engine running , that would show up if there is a spurious resistance in the supply to the coil.

But I reckon rust in the tank/ filter blocked is favourite.

Would agree. The other thing it might be is electrical - when under load you sometimes get these problems - never shows up when idling or revving, only under electrical load. I'd deffo start with the fuel side first tho.

the bottom of each carb will have a screw, you loosen it iff and let the fuel drain out. it doesnt require you to dissemble the carbs.
