Hi,

I recently sold my YZF on Ebay. Some guy clicked on the 'buy it now'.

He reckons he's coming from Ireland to Leeds on the 29th April to collect it. I've asked him to pay a small deposit by bank transfer to show he's serious, which he initially agreed to.

He's suddenly gone quiet though & isn't replying to my messages via Ebay.

I've had a few other people message me who want to buy it for the full price too, a lot sooner (this weekend for example).

What would happen if I cancel the listing with this Irish guy & just accept someone else's offer? Would the Irish fella have to agree to the cancellation?

He should have asked if you were ok with the 29th before clicking BIN, so do whatever you want.

If he's gone quiet he's changed his mind. As always when selling a vehicle priority goes to the first actual person who actually turns up and waves the money in your face.

Sell to highest bidder.

Neg the Pikey.

What was difficult about that now?

Rolling Eyes

Very Happy

I've been fending off a seller on eBay for three weeks now.

I ordered a part for my car when I had checked the seller's details and that there was time to deliver.
The part never arrived on the due date.
I called him next day. He gave me some bull about asking the post office if there was a parcel for me. Smile
I waited the due days and asked for a refund.
I got the refund and negged the twat for his shitty selling behaviour.

The cheeky cnut first said that if I remove the neg rating he will refund me. Shocked

I ignored that drivel.

I got my refund paid to my card.

He emailed me today to say, Since you have been refunded will you now remove the negative feedback? Shocked

I replied to him, What favour do I owe you?

I was put out you got negative feedback for failing to send me my stuff.

They do not understand how shit works.

(He sounded like Sudanese on the phone when I called up to ask where my stuff was.)

Stop fretting.

Tell eBay he's a non paying bidder.

Relist.

I did this, the guy went mad and said he'd "been away" and unable to contact me.

Item went for more than his original winning bid. Thumbs Up

Add the guy to your blocked bidders list as well. Laughing

As above. If he complains, tell him he can have his money back.

Laughing Think that's what I'm doing to be honest.

I've got it in my head that I'm in some sort of official agreement that I have to sell it to him cos he clicked buy it now.

I have the option to 'cancel order' on Ebay, so I'll just try that.

While I agree with everyone here, first come. first served, as he is (possibly) coming from Ireland I'd tell him sooner rather than later.

He might be a bit irate to get to yours and find it's already been sold. Laughing

Yes but that's even more reason (for the buyer) to communicate properly. When I sold my last bike the guy said he'd collect it in a van Monday or Tuesday (this was on the Saturday), he turned up unannounced on the Monday. If you're renting a van and driving 100 miles you think you'd at least pin down a date/time? Confused

You'd think that, but alot of weird people live life going from one catastrophe to another with no plan and then blame you when it goes tits up.

i sold a head on ebay last week, guy doesnt pay, so i stick in a case, he then gets a week or something to sort it out, got 3 days in with no payment so i sold it to someone on a forum, the arsehole on the last day pays for the item, by then i'd been paid and posted it off to the other guy, so just refunded him and told him , snooze you lose essentially, then dropped a msg to ebay telling them to refund my fee which they supposedly have done.

Its quite possible he isn't coming from Ireland at all, and he told you that as a negotiating ploy.

In my experience the greater the distance away, the more likely a buyer is to try to knock the price down, then use emotional blackmail to get you to accept the lower price as he has "come all that way" etc etc....

Do not report them as a non paying bidder if you want to sell to someone else. Laughing

Cancel the transaction and then sell to that someone else. Job done.

I find the opposite, I sold my wife's old car recently - the buyer drove an hour and a half to get to mine, so I _knew_ he really wanted it - so I refused to budge a single pound - even to the point of him saying "ok I'll leave it" - and left the house - i thought I'd misjudged it, but he called 5 mins later and said "Actually, I think I will take it", came back and sheepishly paid the asking price Cool

Do people buying through ebay (ie having 'won' an auction, rather than via a classified listing) still expect to get a discount on the winning bid, then, as if they were responding to a newspaper ad? I thought that was one of the main pro's of using ebay to buy and sell motors*; and everyone knows exactly where they stand.

I've only sold a car once that way; the buyer never attempted to negotiate (and he'd have got short shrift if he's tried to!)

*Assuming the vehicle accurately matches the seller's description when the buyer pitches up, obvs
