Turnip - A large Swede grown as winter fodder for livestock and for Scottish cnuts to eat at their Burn's Suppers.

Its quite possible he isn't coming from Ireland at all, and he told you that as a negotiating ploy.

In my experience the greater the distance away, the more likely a buyer is to try to knock the price down, then use emotional blackmail to get you to accept the lower price as he has "come all that way" etc etc....

I find the opposite, I sold my wife's old car recently - the buyer drove an hour and a half to get to mine, so I _knew_ he really wanted it - so I refused to budge a single pound - even to the point of him saying "ok I'll leave it" - and left the house - i thought I'd misjudged it, but he called 5 mins later and said "Actually, I think I will take it", came back and sheepishly paid the asking price Cool

Depends, I've had the full asking price from someone who came a long way, also had someone still trying to haggle even after we'd agreed a price and they'd paid a deposit (f'ing bike was cheap as well Rolling Eyes).

The old/inoffensive ones are the best and most cutting.

I do have a slight issue with the ratings given for that post by Pol - It's not off topic... its absolutely on topic.

Abusive, Yes
Boring, Could be if you are the subject.

But Off topic?
