Almax vs Pragmasis

Just wondering everyone's opinion on Pragmasis gear and Almax gear?

I have a 1.5m almax series 3 and squire padlock.

In reality, they are probably both pretty equal.

Anyone that cuts an almax is also going to happily cut the pragmasis chain too.

I bought the chain 10 years ago, and at the time they were completely open and honest about their product. They told me that angle grinders and hydraulic cutters would get through it relatively quickly. They also advised me to get the 1.5m one, when I was looking at the 2m one (reducing their sale), as they believed that 1.5m one suited my purpose better.

They were right, and seemed completely open and honest about what their chains could or couldnt stop.

locks and chains are just pest control measures

the more security you have the less likely the scrotes will rob your bike...

however if they WANT your bike desperately there's not a lot you can do... unless are you willing to take a bullet for it?

in essence just secure it as best you can afford and hope that it doesnt catch the eye of a willing villain

This question seems a little Arcane.

If legit, Almax Immobiliser Series V & Squire SS80CS.

Although as we've recently and are still discussing, we're not in the days of Captain Cropper any more, and angle grinders will chop through anything in short order. I wouldn't (and didn't) spend on an Almax or Pragmassis, just bought some 16mm anchor chain.

without doubt both are the top 2 chains you can get.... so buy either, just dont buy oxford

most people only buy one brand, the only person who could answer this question would be a scroat who tried to chop both chains.

IMO if you spend upward of 5k on a bike then penny pinch on the security your an idiot.

A thief weighs up his targets by how easy they are to get, or how long it will take him to get away with it. All you can do is put enough obstacles in his way to put him off... preferably noisy obstacles too.

I use a pair of Oxford Xls and give zero fucks for anything more expensive or heavier.
Reason is simple.Its enough to deter the common scum who go about trying peoples steering locks.Aka the fuck wit who tried hot wiring my fireblade..... by fucking with the GPS and heated grips wiring.

If they are a full time bike theif and not a muppet trying their luck they will come prepared and will have a battery powered grinder and a mate on ped to push them at speed until they can stash it or hot wire it.
They will have it away anyway.

IMO chains are nothing more than a deterrent, and if its that heavy its a pain to carry im less likely to bother.

The only actual security is a massive solid door with a big pissed off rottie behind it.Tho we used to have a blank firing "bird scare" mine rigged to the shed door.Load it with a 12G magflash shell and it makes not only a massive bang it looks like a flash bang.
That worked wonders for making neds run in the past.

If you buy an Oxford chain or disc lock and should your bike ever get stolen, BCF will ask what security you were using and you will face ridicule for buying Oxford Products.

You will never live it down and you will have to learn to live with the shame.

If you're really lucky then you could even win an Oxford Products custom title!
