It's difficult to convey irony with the written word!
Anyway he has form for it, I tend not to use insults in P & CA!

A question if you can actually answer it. Are you looking at Trump with your British head or your American head?

I can see why he is so reviled in the UK, guns, money uber alles etc, the pretty much the opposite of even a large percentage of UK right wingers whereas I would have thought a lot of his rhetoric/actions appeal the the American psyche.

Or am I talking crap. Laughing

British head, American head, it makes no difference, politics might seem to be as genuine as reality tv but we really should hold our politicians to greater standards than we do for Nobby from Big Brother. Trump would be far more popular among the folks who don't fall at the extremes of the left-right spectrum, both here and abroad, if he quit making daft and/or unnecessary statements on Twitter, FFS he's the President of the USA not a naive 16 year old with zero life experience. This week he made a phone call to his favourite news station, aired live, and was eventually cut off - consider that for a moment, The President of the US, was told by the anchor of a pro-Trump station that he must have a busy day to get on with and then cut him off. linky, if you can be arsed to listen to 30 minutes of twaddle
Most UK right wingers would probably fall into the Democrat camp here, it might surprise some to know that both main parties are on the right (and nobody can tell me what a Libertarian is, Liberal they are not) but the Republicans are the party of the Old Testament bible bashers, who are, bizarre as it may seem, the main proponents behind unfettered gun ownership and perish the thought you manage to find a white nationalist who won't bore you tears with scripture whilst trying to convince you why lynching black men is OK.

Most of the people I meet are fairly normal and wouldn't match up with your perception of the stereotypical American psyche, but I live in an area that has a reasonable sized population, get out into the boondocks where there are few people (who appear to all be related to all their neighbours) and you will meet some proper bona-fide whack jobs.

So, are you talking crap? If you clicked the linky you'll already know you don't even register on the crap-o-meter.

A largely powerless and token role, created so that the serfs would have an ersatz monarch to genuflect to. See the fawning pomp and ceremony that surrounds the office, usually reserved for people whose ancestors mass murdered their way into absolute power.

It's democracy theatre, and Trump plays the role with gusto.

Who is going to pay for his security bill though? It cost £26million last time the chief puppet came over.

Lizzie does not command a huge well funded military, decide who to nominate to fill vacant chief justice posts according to her whim, spend all day in the company of the 'nuclear football' or let government know what legislation she'd like them to push through in a four year term.
Pomp and circumstance yes but Lizzie's role is like that of the driver in an autonomous car whilst Trump pilots a juggernaut without an LGV licence.

Or what, soft lad?

Virtually every thread you're in ends up with you name calling because you have no valid points to counter views that differ from yours, you're still in the playground.

"Oh noes, some one doesn't agree with me, better start name calling and get all shouty".
Have word with yourself and grow up!

You really can't see the irony can you?

How about you post up the list of all the people who you blocked because they made you look a cunt?

It would resemble a post by Teffers.

I agree on this point and still don't really understand why he is allowed to use it, although it's a sad reflection of the times that so much importance is placed on a tweet. You're entitled to an opinion, yes even if you're president, and successful people tend to be divisive anyway. Politicians pandering to all sides is part of the problem.

Unfortunately you have to take his tweets as public record because he rarely engages with the more traditional forms of communication. And yes we are all entitled to our own opinions but most grown ups have worked out how to filter the non-PC ones from the ones we present to the rest of the world.

Wasn't it his un-PC rhetoric that helped him into the Whitehouse? It seems a bit strange people think he should pander to those who didn't vote for him Thinking

Yes, the Super-President should stop him. Tut Tut

Why on earth should he not be "allowed" to communicate directly with the proles? The proles who voted for him precisely because of his unfiltered stream of semi-consciousness communication?

It's peculiar how many of the solutions to Trump involve censorship, violence, and abuse of process. But I guess when you say someone is Literally Hitler, whatever you do to stop them is just and good.

I think the point is it's surprising Trump's advisors/minders allow him to use Twitter in the way he does. He can send his unfiltered, uncensored thoughts direct to the World and no one close has said, "Is this wise?" or "Does this make sense?" or "What are the implications?"

You've missed the point. The establishment will see his honesty as dangerous for them. That's why it is surprising that he is "allowed" to express his views so freely.

How long do you think they'd last if they tried?

Trump doesn't have minders, or handlers. Trump is thy God Emperor and thou shalt have no other.
