I'm trying to fit a new throttle cable, and when it's fully installed the throttle is about half open. I'd rather not refit the old cable as it's frayed halfway through, and I'd like to be able to ride to work tomorrow. So that leaves hackery to fit the new one.

Best as I can tell, I need to either shorten the outer sheath, somehow move the carb mount point, or shave down the attachment on the grip (the white bit in the pic) so it can pass the stop, or shave the stop lower. I'm leaning towards cutting down the grip attachment, but if anyone has a better idea I'm all ears.

How did the new cable look laid out next to the old one?

Also: Make/Model/Year ?

The old cable's got a lot less sheath and most of an inch more wire sticking out.

She's a '98 Suzuki GN125. The carb and engine placement are stock, but I think the handlebars are aftermarket.

Well, I shaved it, cranked the adjustment as far down as it would go, and it fits. I'm not entirely happy with the amount of play I don't have, but unless it causes the engine to explode or me to crash tomorrow, I'll just leave it. It should stretch out eventually anyway.
