Got to say why does Manchester have such a shit policy on motorcycles in bus lanes when the traffic is so bad in the city?
https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/use_of_a580_bus_lane_by_motorcyc
Manchester council needs to sort this shit out!! ____________________ Liquorice Torpedoe |

They are here.
Makes me LOL how few cagers seem able to read the time restrictions either. I've flown past a queue all snarled up
in the next lane when the all but empty bus lane is ok to drive in for all traffic. Not my fault they can't read/tell the time. ____________________ Currently enjoying products from Ford, Mazda and Yamaha

They are camera'd up to fuck. No penalty points just a fine. It's a very easy revenue raiser. I know this because I
used to drive a bus in London and if a lane was blocked by a parked car or a van doing a delivery, causing me
any delay we were encouraged to radio that in to control and they would contact the camera operators directly
and tell them where to look. The logic being if he's there for 30 minutes he will also hold up the next four buses if
they are on a 7 minute schedule.
That was over 20 years ago, I can only imagine there are far more cameras these days. Also the buses using
the lanes often have cameras in them too so they can police the lanes as they use them. Again, it was only about
5 buses out of 300 at my garage, but the engineers used to "change the tapes" every day and make sure the footage
was examined for offenders. I expect it's most if not all buses now. Wouldn't be surprised if it isn't a TFL condition of
tender for the routes nowadays. It's widespread, we're being watched nearly all the time. My mate drives a bulk flour
tanker, they have had cameras fitted in the cabs to stop the drivers using their phones to chat to their wife, cat or
whatever while they are chugging along the motorway at 55mph for hundreds of miles. Even if they are hands free
and earpieced up, the company will put them on a disciplinary. It's quite a new thing at his firm, he and I used to
chat for hours when he was doing a run from say Tilbury to Avonmouth, it was a bit of company for him and
nice for me to chat with my mate of 20+ years without time constraints.
All finished now. Big Brother is watching you! I only really get to natter with him at any length via the PSN when
we are playing GTA. ____________________ Currently enjoying products from Ford, Mazda and Yamaha

Edinburgh, Glasgow.
Edinburgh has let motorcycles into all its bus lanes except the ones that it hasn't if they can enter them which they can't.
Glasgow has told us to get stuffed, because they are communists who despise all privately owned motor vehicles except for those being driven by invaluable council employees to their free, private off street parking.

Been quite some time since I've driven anywhere with bus lanes but a lot of people used to stay out of them altogether due to (in my oppinion deliberate) varying of the active times along a particular route. So you'd start off in an inactive one then it would become active once you crossed a particular junction.
Miss that one sign and you get a fine. Good little earner. People took the not unreasonable decision to stay out of htem altogether.
At one point, it was possible to drive into Glasgow Central station without transgressing a bus only lane but not back out again. My Dad got done for it. He tried to get copies of the traffic orders etc to fight it but landed up ragequitting before he had a heart attack. "You're free to inspect the traffic orders. In person. At our office. They're in a locked filing cabinet, in a flooded basement between 3 and 4am on the first Thursday of every month without an R in it. Watch out for the leopard." ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”

Y'all need to move to Liverpool.
Thankfully our city council had the common sense to scrap bus lanes (except for the city centre) as they realised they caused more problems than they solved. ____________________ There ain't no devil, there's just god when he's drunk.

Manchester bus lanes are enforced by little Smart Cars with periscopes. They also use them during non-bus lane time hours to enforce mobile phone car use penalties.
The thing about Manchester is they keep shrinking every road going into the centre. All the Northern Roads have both bus lanes AND cycle
lanes.
Bury New Road used to be 2 lanes in 2 lanes out. It's now 1 lane in 1 lane out with numerous choke points.
The key to getting around Manchester quickly is just to use the M60. It's almost always faster to go round the outside and in via the 602 which has ample filtering space for bikes until you get to the Casino. ____________________ Spain 2008France 2007Big one 2009 We all die. Buslane system is trixy when heading into Manchester from the south.
Runs from 2 lanes where after 7pm you can use both lanes then some short sections where it's buses only at any time.
For the uninitiated it's easy to pick up a fine. ____________________ Diabolical homemade music Bandcamp and Soundcloud
