I think that's a very early BSA from between 1920 and 1930

I'm pretty sure it's a Sunbeam. It's got a V-rim brake. There is a disc in the centre of the magneto chaincase, the mag is behind the engine and there is coachlining round the sculpted part of the front right part of the tank.

The attached pic is a 1923 500SV. Not exactly the same mind

Punch the number plate into DVLA..

😂

I'd go for BSA too. They were made in a factory that made rifles for the crown. King Charles I think if it goes all the way back.

Interesting story on its own.

Edit: I changed my tune. Wot Stinkers sez.

But Still a good bike. 😂

It's even got the British Standard oil haemorrhage under it too. Smile

(I know it's just water.)

It also has comedy brakes. Even for its time they were regarded as a bit shit.

Those rim things mounted to the wheel have a groove going all the way round. There is a cable operated pivot, when you pull the brake lever, it optimistically pushes a small, v-shaped block down into the groove. They face forwards so they don't even cam-on.

A mate has them on an old (leather belt drive) BSA and he reckons it wont even hold it stationary on a hill. To attach a sidecar to one boggles the mind.

As Stink has already pointed out, disc on mag chain case is a dead giveaway, definitely not a Beezer. Brakes, headlamp and horn suggest Sunbeam Model 2, early 20's. However, the photo may be misleading but, I can't see the cylindrical collector at the bottom of the exhaust downpipe which would suggest something like the Model 3. Both models should have the oil bath chaincase so that's not helpful

I would put money on it being either the Model 2 or 3, 1923/24/25. The trouble with IDing older machines is that, whilst you might find a specs list, bits from earlier machines were quite often used on later models.
