Hi, All. I have a 2012 Tuono V4R APRC which has had a lot of work doing to it by the previous owner. One such thing was having the ECU flashed by Gabro Racing Team in Italy. Now, the bike pulled like nothing I've ever experienced, outrageous grunt right through the range.

I had it into the dealer last week (Aprilia specialist who knows the bike well) as it needed the rear ABS sensor replaced and then the ECU encoded to dial out the fault code on the dash. I took it out this weekend past and it has a profound flat spot at 7k RPM, so severe that the first time it happened while I was getting past some traffic, it caused a real fright and slammed my nethers into the tank.

My question is, could the mapping have been affected by the dealer having to encode the ECU again to identify and dial out the fault code? Or is this a really stupid question? Apologies if so, I'm pretty ignorant with stuff like this on modern bikes - any info appreciated.

Thanks.

I think it's entirely likely that they've just done a factory reset on the ECU and wiped your epic map. However, proving that, or getting compo for it, it going to be an uphill challenge.

If the dealer has reflashed it to the stock ECU firmware then yes, it will have overwritten the custom 'tuned' version which will have been set up to alter the fuel mapping etc. The custom ECU will have been set up to deal with exactly that flat spot that's bruising your chicken skin handbag.

Long and short would be, you're shit out of luck.

Is there a dial on the ECU?
