It's time to a long overdue oil change on the jeep wrangler.

Being a stupid American car, finding parts in the UK is difficult. The manual specifies that 10W30 is the prerfered oil grade, with 5W30 the other option if the ambient temp stays below 0.

Where can I find a suitable oil 10W30 oil. Anyone have a similar problem?

Diesel or petrol? When I had a 2.8CRD I just used Tesco's own brand, cos the factory manual states oil change every 6k miles for anything other than highway cruising in a low dust environment. If it's an older V8 you should be able to find the specs online easily enough and order it off eBay if it's anything unusual - had to do this for an older Landy gear oil which had brass bushings (or something) that by all accounts modern oils aren't the best for. There is an absolute ton of info on Jeep forums for the exact API specs etc. In fact the amount of available info was a major bonus, finding parts in the UK though is a right pain and ultimately what would put me off getting another one, even though they are now Fiat's.

It's the 4.0litre inline 6 petrol.

Ebay comes back with tractor oil or high performance motorcycle oil when putting the grade in.

Eurocarparts.com and opie oils don't stock 10W30. However 5W30 seems easy to come by.

As you've found, 10W-30 is not a commonly found car engine oil in Europe. Use a 5W-30 and move on.

I can't see 10w 40 causing any problem either, in UK conditions.
They are worried about cold starts at -20

Castrol Edge 5w-40 should be OK from around -20 to 40 centigrade, should be OK here... it's what I've just put in my van Smile
