5 years out the saddle and I'm in the market for a new bike so the electronics era is new to me so I'm excited to see what's what .

I have some test rides lined up but if like to hear people's thoughts who have ridden or owned any of these .

Not ridden any, but if it were me I'd definitely be gravitating towards the Aprilia. It's got the edge of mentalness, the tiny size, the prettiness, the V4ness... I just think it's a very special thing. Shame about the colours they come in, but out of those three (and the S1000RR and the ZX10R) I'd be going for that. Money no object I'd be tempted by a H2SX though. Heavy, yes but supercharged baby!

I'm kinda leaning toward the Aprilia, which are $15k new here , the ducati 1299 is about the same but used with none to limited manufactures warranty remaining and 1-2 thousand miles.

R1 is the bargain of the lot at around $13k.

Not really interested the the H2, id love to ride one but not sure if want to own one day to day.

Yea I have heard it's got bad in London.
Out here where I live in Rural Maryland it's not something I'm really concerned about.
More worried about the much poorer quality of driving here to be honest.

Wouldn't Jay be able to give accurate and experienced opinions and reports on nearly all of these bikes as he's owned most of them in the last few years. Also speak to Monkeypony as he or his Mrs have got an RSVR haven't they?

Much better than the likes of me or Marjay etc saying I like X one best just because.

I'd get whichever bike really grabs you the most and you want as life is so short not to. And also with new or very nearly new bikes it's a huge amount of cash to tie up in something that just seems the best or most logical option. If your heart says I want an XYZ1000 then get it IMO.

Well, I have an RSV4 The 2016 one, not the latest one with the trick dash.

It's a monster, but then, all modern litre super bikes are. However, this one comes with the world's angriest sounding V4 Laughing

I tried all the competition, and decided this way the most fun, but what I enjoy in a bike may not be your cup of tea

Whichever you choose will be fast enough to melt your brain, so pick the one that's most comfortable!

The Aprilia if definitely best suited for the shorter gent though.

Great to hear from an owner, have you gone through the hassle of an exhaust and race ecu ?.

Garth where in Maryland? , I'm off the beaten track in a town called California right near the nuclear power plant.

Yep I'm at the very bottom right peninsula.
It's about 2.5 to 3 hours away from your route close to Frederick .

I have a major issue with the Aprilia in that it looks shit compared to the Panigale. They also have uncomfortably common catastrophic engine and gearbox failures. This comes from working in and around them. 2 I know of personally have failed spectacularly under 3k miles, one throwing a rod bearing, the other jumping out of second gear at 2500 miles. I live on the Isle of Wight and there aren't many people about so knowing of two having lunched themselves is disturbing. There was another on here that was jumping out of gear at 5k miles.

Little detail things, the headlight bulbs actually burn the inside of the headlights after a while, paint falls off, parts tarnish very easily. I have had numerous people ask if the bike on the ramp is a 125, not just because of it's size but because it LOOKS cheap. No one asks if a Panigale is a 125, they just stand there, jaw on the deck.

As regards the R1, it's kind of an also ran compared to the Italians these days. The big bang motor they continue to flog is raped sideways even by the ZX-10s screamer and it's Yamaha ugly. They seem to have this obsession with making motorcyles that look like they are fresh out of the latest Transformers movie.

Panigale all the way. Special looking, loopy to ride and it's a Ducati so even people who don't give a flying fuck about bikes know what it is.

IMO anyway. Razz

I suppose that's an acceptable choice.
