Does anybody here like it?
I went to the coast tonight at about 9PM for a quick whizz about, on the way there I have to go on quite a main road, I just loved it, being on a moped isn't all that fun during the day because you get a lot of abuse from car drivers. But on a Wednesday night there is virtually no traffic on the road and cruising along at about 40MPH is quite fun, the lights are quite crap on my bike but they are bearable, I felt so much satisfaction from tonights ride. I'm so happy.
I have only one gripe with night riding and unsurprisingly it's to do with Car Drivers, as my lights aren't all that bright it takes drivers ages to recognise there is a bike there so they keep their full beam on, I try as hard as I can to keep my eyes to the side of the road but it just dassles me completely, there is nothing I can do. It is very annoying, especcially if you are going around a corner. I lost count the amoutn of times I nearly went into a hedge.
Anybody else here enjoy riding at night?

I don't mind it as long as I know the road and I'm not tired or anything.
I do quite like having the roads all to myself, as it takes away some of my stress |

I enjoy it on street lit roads, my head light is crap, on lanes you can't go much above 30mph in case you end up in a hedge. ____________________ ?It?s mercy, compassion, and forgiveness I lack?not rationality.? |

I was enjoying a night ride tonight. That was until I turned on my high beam and it all went dark , fortunately it went light again when I switched back to dipped headlight.
Going to have a look at yet more dodgy wiring it seems. ____________________ "Unlike public school you don't need to have your arse up and your head down to go a long way...." |

I used to love riding at night when I was younger
now I still enjoy it as the smell brings back all those memories
funny eh?
it's also quite funny at this time of year if it's mild coz you can get sooooooo many bugs on yer visor that you can't see ____________________ 187.3bhp = 201mph |

I love it for the lack of traffic, and not needing to go quickly anyway. That and my headlights are stupidly bright and probably aiming too high. Cars don't often seem to dip their beams anyway though... I also like the way you can see oncoming traffic from further away, cars round corners and over brows. The cracks, splats and the various other noises that insects and gravel make when they bounce off my lid keep me amused anyway. Need to keep the visor clean, or mucky visor combined with Fog city insert produces a horrible glare, you can inspect your nose all you want, but you can't see out.
It could just be me, but I'm sure the countryside smells come out more when the sun goes down. |

Probably not
I love riding at night,if I use the bike to go to work then I don't bother but if I use my van then I always try to go out for at least half an hour or so,its so much better when theres less traffic about and I reckon its a great way to chill out after a days work |

My favourite time to ride is just before dawn
Between 3.30am and, say, 7am. Excellent. ____________________ Not nearly as interesting in real life. |

In 2 years of biking, the only serious night riding I do is the winter commute, but that's hardly pleasurable
I should have a good stint in the dark methinks, but not without changing the black visor first... |

A couple of these REALLY help! absoloutely blimin fantastic!
My fave distance traveling time is about 4 am, or an hour before sunrise... but down the motorway throught the night is great, nothing on the road and can be where i'm going way before commuters have even woke up, and the service stations are still open for buisness... propper good.
Only dissadvantage is it is quite a bit colder (but then at midnight nobody can see your wearing a devestateingly cool balaclava ) ____________________ >RidingSkills<->Tech Tips<->MyBikes< |

Night riding I love, day times fine but it's just not the same.
Dark country lanes, peace and quiet, open road, a little speed, the wildlife when stopped having a cig and either the other half or the lads winding eachother up as to who's going to end up in a bush the days when I had time |

Riding at night is great but ONLY on roads that are well marked. Try going fast on a road that has no white lines down the sides, fecking scary!
I have trouble with my supermoto because of the huge amount of suspension dive under braking, you bung it hard into a corner and suddenly can't see. I am considering a system whereby the lights are automatically switched to beam using a hydraulic banjo switch on the front brake set to a fairly high pressure.
I have the solution to cars who wont dip their lights for bikes, they are 6" round, have a sheet of clear glass over them, funny shaped mirrors in the back, draw 14 amps of current and have the word CIBIE stamped on the glass ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”
I did the 2010 Round Britain Rally on my 350 Bullet. 89 landmarks, 3 months, 9,500 miles. |
