 |
|
Hi all.
My rear hugger appears to be rubbing the tyre and is leaving shiny marks around the edge of the tyre. The hugger is only supported from the left side meaning the right side appears to sag and this is exactly where the marks are.
Taking the hugger off is a potential no go as to get it on, I ended up waiting for its service as it required the wheel to be off and it just had its service.
I was thinking of simply sanding back the exact part that appears to rub. My bike is a VFR800 (2000) and I'm not too bothered about a rough patch.
Does this sound like a good or stupid idea? Also what type of sand paper would be required?
Many thanks for any input. I even had thoughts of taking a Dremel to it |

Haha well it is an aftermarket special, that's for sure.
The tyre is the standard size and correct pressure. The hugger has been on the bike for a good few years without any problems, so time is clearly a factor. Shame I don't have a photo at hand. The only thought I had is that a year back, I did have new tyres fitted and the combination of all that new tread- wear and tear/ age on the hugger and possible subtle movements when the tyres were fitted by the garage- all led to this.
I will end up binning it no doubt, but for now I was thinking of sanding the point of rubbing.
What specific sand paper would do the job to take off some millimetres from the plaster of a rear hugger?
I appreciate the responses guys |
