The Trooping of the Colours goes waaaaaay back well before Sikhs served the British Armed forces. (17th century.)

And bearskin hats were stolen off Napoleons Imperial Guard after Waterloo (1815). So should guardsmen really be parading about wearing enemy uniform?

Trophies.

Unyielding uniformity in appearance, mission and obeyance is surely the intended message so whilst inclusiveness is admirable I see no reason why the soldier couldn't have worn a bear skin.

And whiteface.

The violent animal didn't even shave either.

Curiously, no mention of either of those aspects in this thread. Just his titfer.

Unyielding uniformity in appearance is vital, I hear. It's the only thing that keep the Fuzzy Wuzzies cowed.

Rogerborg plays the race card. Shocked
Nope, the idea is to portray a uniform appearance from a distance and, by inference, a unity of intent. No one is calling for them to be clones. It's a display spoilt in part by one who wants to be different for the sake of it. The others will be wearing their bearskins at jaunty angles and incorporating dance moves next.

Don't shoot until you see the whites of their faces?

Except those calling for a uniformity of appearance.

He should have worn whiteface? Yes, or no?

If no, why not?

The idea is to portray a uniform appearance from a distance, I've heard.

When will they be doing that?

It's been that way for many hundreds of years, thanks to Christianity. Our country's customs and laws were built at the whim of the bloody bible bashing twats. That's why I have to pay Chancel repair liability insurance when I don't give two shits about mystical beings but happen to live reasonably close to a church.

Are we going to take the high ground now, over a hat? When we don't allow larger supermarkets to open late on a Sunday because it's "holy time" and a "day of rest" according to the bible?

The supermarket (Coz you've run out of gin Very Happy ) Sunday early close is a zero issue in Scotland.
It used to kill me when I lived in Hull.
