No big drama this month, more or less similar to 2017 (which was a poor year).

Scootay sales took a bit of a dip[*], and supersports continue their death spiral. But "customs" (wow such Factory, very Rebel) make a good showing.

The Tracer 900 manages to beat the R1200GS for top spot in adventure, although the GS + GS Adventure together would whup it.

Nice little win for Honda's Rebel 500 in the 126-650 category, although Harley sold more Sportster X 1200s.

Yamaha are nipping at Honda's heels, with Triumph continuing their strong sales and Harley making hay before the sanctions hit.

[*] No showing at all for Piaggo / Vespa. I wonder if that London's acid-stabbyfest is leading scootay buyers to catch the bus.

Am I right in presuming this should just about be the best month of the year for sales?

The beginning of summer and all that.

Not quite. If you took the years 2011 to 2017 and totalled up the number of bikes purchased in month, September is the surprise winner by quite some distance. It's followed by June and July in close proximity to each other, with May about ~7% behind.

Plenty of 0% deals, chunky amounts of money off to shift 'old' models and lots of pre-reg to beat new laws coming in.......not to mention the poor buggers who spent the summer hoop jumping to finally pass their test and can't wait a second more.
