Motorcycle Theory Test:

The motorcycle theory test is required before moving onto the practical licence test. It applies whether or not you have a full car licence, and again, will be valid for 2 years from the pass date. If you haven't completed your licence in that time, you'll need to take the theory test again.

The exemption here is if you have passed a two-part (full) licence on a moped or lower capacity motorcycle since 1996, and held it for at least two years. So if, for example, you have an A1 Licence, you don't need to retake the theory test for your A1 or A licence.

so I have had a provisional /a1 since I was 16 ..
so I don't need to take this ? I'm 52

If you're going DAS, or come to think of it A1 or 2, you need the theory.

Not sure exactly what you are asking (or indeed, why you are asking in the News section!) but if I read you right...

You are 52, had provisional motorcycle licence since you were sixteen, and want to know if you need a theory test before you take your practical bike test?

Yes, you will. You will also need a CBT.

You don't mention if / when you passed a car test. If have and you passed before 2001, you *don't* need a CBT for a 50cc moped, but still do for 125.

Weak sauce. Also, didn't read.

Because it seems that they're taking A2 -> A progressive access, Tef-sperging out, and assuming it means that 2 years after any pass you don't have to do another theory.

DVSA / DVLA / gov.uk sauce?
