What do people recommend for paint protection? Stuff to give a reasonable shine but more to stop fading, possibly chips & scuffs as well?

This is for my boat rather than a bike or car but its still paint on metalwork and suffers the same damage as a road vehicle.

It's starting to look rather tired and a repaint is in the region of 5 grand including sign writer so I'd rather go the rejuvenation route. I'm thinking T cut then some fancy polish as I have one of these somewhere around the place.
