So i had an old gz125 lying up, rather than let it goto waste i thought i'd mess with it and see what i can come up with.

Stripped it bare almost, front forks are still pretty decent by the looks of it,

Spent an hour tonight on the tank with some wet n dry. The better half is an artist, so once i think of a design i'm going to let her loose on it.

Ordered new engine, new covers / stator etc, they were cheap... also a new carb, exhaust wrap.

Temp handlebars, cheapest ones on ebay, the old ones were really bent and rusty.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-Low-Braced-Aluminium-Motorbike-Handlebars-7-8-22mm-Moto-x-Enduro-Cafe-Racer/122265005974?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649

Any advice on handlebars to put on it? i know zada.. at least with they ones i'll have something in the mean time.

Theres a 150cc big bore kit on aliexpress for like 80 quid, tempted to go for this, purely for cosmetic reasons as that top bit of the engine is a bit manky on the outside! Can i basically just fit that and away i go?

Bought a cheap rear mudguard, hopefully just cut the front one down.

I want a new seat for it, don't wanna fork out much though. i was thinking about something like this..

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Solo-Leather-Spring-Bracket-Seat-For-Harley-Sportster-Chopper-Bobber-Black-UK/222889513420?epid=2287812137&hash=item33e54011cc:g:KQ4AAOSwF-Ja4FPs

Which i'm guessing i would have to weld on, So theres like cheap tig welders on ebay like 100 quid, would one of them get the job done?, i've never welded anything so maybe best to take it to a guy, but game for trying it if the consensus is i'd probably manage.

Paint job - I've never painted anything in my life, watched a couple of youtube videos but if anyone wants to chime in with advice or product recommendations please do, especially when it comes to the tank prep and painting, type of paint, primer, clear coat etc to use. If the mrs does some nice artwork on it i really don't wanna fuck it up, heard one guy, his looked great, soon as a lil petrol touched it it all just ran..

Got a guy coming who will sandblast the frame, 45 quid, will attempt to paint myself.

and thats as far as i've got.....

I know it's a long post with many questions, not expecting much input but If anyone can answer any of my questions, by all means.. I'm totally open to suggestions and advice for just about every aspect of it, if you think something will improve it or look cool, do tell!

and if there's any interest i'll keep the thread updated with pics / progress and anything useful i learn!

Cheers.

Apologies but I saw that wall of text before I started reading the topic and it put me right off. Good luck with the project.
