I want to create an image with some editable text on it, to serve as a template for my staff to use when they post company-related stuff online.

They need to be able to edit the text on the template and save the resulting image somewhere so they can upload it to LinkedIn.

I have that template in Illustrator already, but I want to avoid having to install Illustrator/Photoshop or something like that on their machines. Ideally, I would want to use MS Paint (or something free, preferably native to Windows) that they can use without fucking the template up. I also don't want them to be able to edit the template too much - the images and colours and fonts should ideally remain the same. I only want them to be able to update certain bits of text and then save the resulting image somewhere on their machine.

The issue with Paint is that I can't save a template with editable text boxes on it - I can only save the image after the text has been edited if that makes sense.

Any ideas on a budget solution to this please?

On a budget solution?

GIMP, it's free, has a small footprint and can be used commercially.

+1 for GIMP. Really light and you can just shove template on there, save another layer with text boxes and copy it over.
