Hi

I’ve been trying to replace the fork seals on my bike and have come into trouble getting the bolt out of the bottom of the fork slider without the fork cylinder spinning inside.
I believe there is a special tool for this job but as yet i can’t find one.
I tried to use a large nut welded to a socket and this worked on the first fork leg but the second leg seems to have been butchered by someone.

Any ideas what I can try or where to locate a special tool would be great.

Thanks👍

Wedge with something (dowel, rawl bolt...) &/or use an air wrench?

If it is butchered what makes you think the special tool is going to work...?

If you have got one apart then you'll be able to see and modify your tool to be a better fit, so that it can work on the other fork. Pics/measurements of the damper rod end may help.

I use an impact wrench - it'll remove the bolt with ease Thumbs Up

You can buy a damper rod holder or manufacture one out of a broom handle, but as Islander says an impact gun is far easier.
