I think you're thinking of the original Solar Powered Roads video, this one is a debunk vid.

Necropost...
I can't believe they're still getting funding or that anyone still has any belief that it'll work:

Live webcam of the first 'roadway' (As Phil Mason points out, 75% failure rate on the LED panels so far - plus the demo installation doesn't generate a single watt of power - and you can't see the LEDs in daylight - pretty much as predicted 2 years ago)

Quite apart from all the technobabble: you want cars to drive in smooth, wet, glass tiles, you say?

'merica, where one can dream and others pay for it. Laughing

Question, let's say it's -10°C ouside, how much kW of power would you need to keep, let's say 500km of that solarnonsens warm enough, so it doesn't freeze up? And let's put aside all the water and dirt reducing the already low efficiency. Thinking

Why not to use this ''technology'' on that wall ''president'' Trump is going to make Mexicans to build between the US of A and Mexico? No bellow 0°C temperatures, US of A could use the LEDs for a propaganda of some sort, etc. Thinking

The original set of panels died, so they took the webcam down whilst they installed the V2 panels.
As of a month ago, they were live once more [still powered by mains power] - But since then one panel has died [again] ...then the electrical junction box shorted out and caught fire.
Brilliant demo thus far, a mere thirty panels and they can't make it last for more than a month - and they require a shed load of mains power to run.
(...and you can't see the lights in daylight, the surface is not suitable for vehicles and they don't display any meaningful shapes/lines/road markings....yet they're still being funded)

Huh, I thought that guy was just shome shperg who took the pish out of eShJWsh.

Turns out that his scam-debunking is actually fairly decent. Waterseer in particular is a real doozy.

Perhaps that's what the Adam Aaronses are relying on to produce the water for the Rainpal video. Thinking

I can only tolerate him in small doses. Watched the water-bottle and hoverboard one last night. As goto"" said in the rainpal thread the similarities are there (with the self-filling water bottle). Mainly promoting a form factor before you've integrated any technology, and announcing any minor discovery as if it's a major and unique scientific break-through.

Thunderfoot's debunking videos are great.

He did one recently about Fontus, a bottle which can draw water from the air.

He later did a follow-up to show how the project had failed and was left floundering with eternal Rainpail-style updates of hope for the internet masses.

He then made a valid point that most of these big new ideas not only get funding from crowd-sourcing idiots, but also from government schemes.

I can't remember exactly now but Fontus won some kind of award, or gained some sort of grant, from the Austrian government. And now in this solar roadways follow-up he mentions that the idea got funding from the US government.

It's sort of worrying to see how little logical/scientific knowledge is nested in the upper echelons of global statehood.

The bit that bugs me is universities backing them. Then it turns out that it's bloody "design" students rather than science students who would (or should) suss it out in seconds.

Shades of the mob who keep showing up here with their "Design me a techno-helmet. No, I don't ride, why do you ask?" demands.

If there was a chance for this to ever work, I do believe countries such as Japan would have tried their own version long ago.
