hey all, i was given a helmet (fm axe) that i know for sure has never been in any accident etc. the only thing is whenever i wear it, the visor steams up.
i've seen proper bike helmets that have a little breath guard behind the visor and just wondered if you can buy something similar that fits onto all helmets?? or is it worth me getting a new proper bike helmet cheaply with one already
(the helmet is a grade B standard and looks quite flat like a go-karting helmet)

Foggy mask. Sticks on with velcro, so fits any lid.

Try www.busters-accessories.co.uk or any place that sells bike stuff.

Also, have you tried just cracking the visor open one notch? Tends to help.

As a budget option, a thin film of washing up liquid applied to the inside of the visor makes a difference.

A Fog City visor insert is the bomb. It did cost me £15 from Heine Gericke, but they fitted it and there is absolutely no misting whatsoever. Thumbs Up It could be possible to get equivalents cheaper perhaps?

I got exactly the same as mchaggis when I bought my lid.
The bloke even gave me some free L plates and knocked a bit off the gloves I was buying.

Now my visor doesn't fog at all.

Problem is: now my glasses fog up!
Anyone know a way to stop glasses fogging up inside a helmet?
I tried some anti-fog wipes, but they didn't do much.
Wish they made a fog city for glasses Mr. Green

One thing that's amazed me is how much difference upgrading your helmet can make. I started off with a cheap £70 Vemar helmet for my scooter, not really knowing much about bikes or helmets, I had no real complaints.

In preparation for my DAS and my new bike, I picked up a £130 Nitro helmet, and the improvement is nothing short of stunning. It's smaller, lighter, has better ventilation, and most importantly better peripheral vision for those all-important Lifesavers. It might not match up to some of the more expensive helmets that I'm sure some people have here, but it was well worth the extra cash.

I put something called Gloop on the inside of my visor, which works quite well. I also always keep the visor vents open and open the visor a notch when travelling slowly.

Spit on your glasses and rub the spit in. Seriously. I done scuba diving on my holidays and was told to do this and it stops underwater misting. Should work on your glasses too. As well as that I also use the Fog City insert which is absolutely class.

Bob Heath anti-mist visor spray. Works on visors and glasses. Thumbs Up
