They're going to sort it all out, clean it up, etc, and then give me first dibs..so i imagine the prices may go up from what i originally offered, but we shall see.
In the meantime... picked up a couple of vices off the gumtree, a 4" that needs the return spring fixing, and a beast of a 6" that opens so wide you could drive a bus through it. There's a tab piece on the 6 i'll need to weld back on so got some nickel rods on order. Edit: Also going to put some new jaws on it.
The beast was so covered in grime and rust you couldn't tell what colour it was. Forgot to take a pic of it beforehand, but it cleaned up nicely though. Haven't decided to leave it as it is, or paint it...
Not bad for £35 for the two!

The blades you can still get, and are around a tenner. As for it's accuracy, i really don't know. I'd have to test it when i'm there to be sure.

The Ryobi planner I had wasn't too badly built, for a machine that retailed at 50 quid,
and although it did get used for lumpy bits of wood it was never overly happy and used to burn out belts. On a positive note you can get the blades sharpened. Good vfm if you only pay 50 quid for a new one, any sign of rust on the bed and you might be better just to chuck it in the bin. ____________________ Make mine a Corona. |

I love how that guy always argues to the death the points that literally nobody cares about.
"ackowledge my correctness". Good job. Have a treat. ____________________ Blue_SV650S wrote: it was a sh1te wheelie, but it proves that he can get it up in 3rd and can do angles. Having a wee bit of experience with lathes my biggest concern for operating that one is that if belt snaps, which is a good probability being a link type, it will take your face off being in that position! ____________________ Honda Africa Twin |
