Hi all,

Looking to get a CoC (certificate of Conformity) for my KTM Adventure, i've got hold of KTM and they want £100 for it....bloody joke if you ask me.

Just making sure this is the only way to get it, read a few other forums and some say KTM have supplied it for free for UK bikes, wondering if its worth me arguing or just roll over and pay it?

Anyone managed to get it for free?

i have a love hate relationship with KTM Sad

Isn't that on him, for wherever he wants to export it to?

If i want to sell the bike i'm happy to get things sorted for him. I'm more interested in whether i can get this for free...which is doubtful knowing KTM

Or you could just sell it to someone who doesn't want you to get them a certificate of conformity.

Sounds very much like the buyer's problem.

£100 upfront or gtfo.

Yes, from Yamaha, when importing a bike, so I could get it registered here. The CoC was to show it conformed with UK requirements. For what country will you be obtaining this one? I would have presumed it could make a difference?

Let the buyer worry about that.

You've been trying to sell the broken bike since last October and if this is the only real interest you've had then maybe you're asking too much.

Otoh, if he's asking too much and this chap is prepared to pay it, it might be worth it Laughing

Or they know that if they can get the OP to invest £100 in a certificate of something-or-other then they'll be in a much stronger position to start haggling. Razz

A CoC shouldn't be needed if it's already registered. The V5 takes care of that when imported elsewhere civilised.

What did KTM say when you asked them?

If he's a seriouse buyer (of any bike) and seriousely intending to export it to some Trumphole that loves the UK / EU CoC, then he's going to have this problem with every bike and every seller, because the answer is always going to be "U wot, m8?"

He should therefore be factoring it into his decisions and his budget, not yours. If he's not done that, then I'd flag him up as a TIEM WASTAR!!!!

Yeah as he said; just a KTM. Welcome to our woes.

I had to get one for my F800st when I loved to Spain. BMW charge as well & I couldn't find any way of getting a free one.

I would get the money for the bike before you pay it, otherwise you're £100 down if he changes his mind.

Or just knock £100 off the selling price and tell the seller to get his own

Agreed regarding getting buyer to get their own, but I guess if this is the only person who want's to buy, maybe the OP has to do it... anyway, I don't think there is a cheap/free way.

I know when importing to Spain, if you don't have this you have to get a garage to create an equivalent which will cost the same amount or more. I was quoted €130 I think.

What the buyer wants to do with the bike is up to them and that includes paying for a certificate of conformity.

I believe it would be foolish for the seller to invest £100 in a buyer.

There are other people buying the bikes, any lack of interest is down to the price.

Agreed, was just letting the OP know my experience. I would personally direct the buyer to KTM and let them deal with it. Thumbs Up
