Keep political bickering discussions in the Politics & Current Affairs forum.
Or just give up on the lefties / right-wing as being a lost cause rather than going round in circles repeating the same arguments again and again and again. |

Is the forum dying? Dunno, but its evolving like everything does, Darwinism. I come on here most days because I enjoy it, even now. As a parallel thing I go in my local working mens club supposedly another dying institution, the difference is that its doing well due to good management and giving the punters what they want. What do you want on this forum? Then how can you make it happen? Words are cheap so do something if you value it or lose it, we did with the club.
Ultimately if both these things went down I would be sad for a bit but I'm sure I'd get over it.
On the politics side I hardly ever look at that bit cos what it has to do with bikes I have no idea and most of the stuff is naive bollocks regurgitated from social media. I'll just leave this here to wind some of the wankers up, Christopher Yaxley-Lennon aka Andrew Mcmaster aka Paul Harris aka Tommy Robinson is a ultra right wing nazi fascist thug who I view as bad as the extremists he goes on about

So you’re not into talking politics on here, but you felt the need to have a massive political rant about a right wing activist.
Thanks for proving my point. Really? Are some people really oblivious to “I don’t have a political opinion, but mine is right and yours in wrong.”?
If you were all honest, what you mean is “I only agree with a political opinion if it matches my own, any opposing view must be silenced”. ____________________ TZR250 2MA road, TZR250 1KT road, TZR250 2MA race, TDR250, YZF-750R Boost colours.

Reasons I'm less active:
1. Way too busy with my job at the moment. This will probably come as quite a surprise to those who previously thought it perfectly acceptable to mention my 'student' status in every discussion, as if it were automatically a negative thing or a useful comment to make. This leads onto the next point...
2. Won't lie, my main area of contribution was politics and current affairs. It started to get like a stuck record, I would often make a post and knew full well that I would just have to ignore half of the utterly empty "shut up lefty student" character attack responses that would be used as so-called 'debate' in those threads. A small handful of pig-ignorant morons have made that part of the forum into a complete and utter waste of time. The only person I can think of with whom I'm able to disagree amicably with and carry on discussing things is Rogerborg.
3. mpd72. That cunt is single-handedly making the forum far too unenjoyable. Just look what he's already done to this thread. Why?! And no I won't block him. That just removes myself from half the comments, quotes etc, and only lessens the experience of using this place. Instead of blocking folk, I'll just tolerate it until I decide the place isn't for me any more, which to be honest has started to happen over the past 12 months. Just look at the politics subforum. It seems to have become nothing other than a list of purposefully hateful discussions which are so repetitive it's a shining example of the definition of "ideological echo chamber".
A quick look at the politics subforum shows me the following popular topics:
Brexit - where you aren't allowed to be a Remainer.
Black Lives Matter - Where black lives really don't matter
#ntdwi - where everything is something to do with Islam (the bad kind of Islam, of course - not the good kind, because of course there is no good kind of Islam)
more and more boat migrants - where every problem in the west is caused by poor people on boats with zero political or legal clout.
Rock on Tommy! - because his free speech is different from everyone else's free speech...
anti feminism SJW thread - I made this one
Comrade Corbyn congrats thread - because the leader of the political party whose manifesto was roundly accepted by almost every economist in the country is obviously bad because the British media cabal, with vested capitalist interests and a proven right wing bias, said so.
How rekt is South Africa? - it's rekt because it has black people in it
Now try making a topic about a so-called 'lefty' topic. Global warming, tax evasion, political corruption, state level dismantling of public services, ongoing Tory failure. See how long it lasts, and see how much sensible discussion you can get before it descends into more mpd72 fuckwittery.
There's just not much interesting or intellectual discussion any more. Everything is basic finger-pointing and blaming other groups of people for unrelated problems. Knuckleheaded rage responses reign supreme. What's the point? I used to anticipate logging on here and would catch up on everything and dive back in where I left off. That appeal has now worn off.
For what it's worth, I'm soon to be sorting a motorbike for myself over here in Chinaland, so hopefully I can get back to talking about motorbikey things again, with fun pictures from the mountains of western sichuan and the Tibetan autonomous region if/when I get time to go. But even then, I half expect to be called a lefty sinophile communist socialist chairman mao worshipping stalinist, by the usual crowd, just for being doing that. |

There's nothing wrong with being a remainer, especially if your 1St principles and most important thing to you and your life is business and economic stability, gross GDP, and the financial services industry.
But the overall opinion and winning vote of the UK was to leave the hell out of Europe, for many reasons but maybe mainly because people didn't feel we had a choice other than to leave the country and continent we were born in, which is normally a one way journey and change.
Whats wrong is to bitch and moan and worse than that, think that the minority decision of the UK population has a right to oppose the majority, and challenge, appeal for blocking of political decision making, calling for a re-vote or trying to change the outcome of exiting the EU.
The worst argument I ever heard about Brexit because the decision was apparently the wrong one, was that the vote to stay or leave should never have been put to the public. They said that this is because the public are thick, stupid and don't really know what they want, or don't know how to run a country and what's best for it.
Think about that, the public should have no influence on politics, policy, and laws, welfare, health, immigration etc etc. In that case who's country exactly is the British Isles? Why don't the government deport us all to a third world island and keep the UK for the political elitist only.
How about the generations that fought to keep the UK British and for British rule and British born citizens. Should their living descendants be made to leave too? |

I quite agree.
I don't think Fbook has any part to play. I think Fbook is itself losing popularity. Maybe its just the bell curve of acendecy then decline at play and all things are doomed to crumble.
One thing that hacks me off is you create a thread then the usual suspects chime in bolloking you and saying go google it. That really is stupid, Google isnt a conversation and the whole point of forums is conversation. |

Another snowflake who thinks anyone who dares to have a different political opinion is "a cunt" who should be openly abused to prove you're right and everyone else is wrong.
How dare I not agree with your infallible opinion! Get over yourself.
The left have control over most of the media and education, just because one sub forum on the Internet isn't dominated by liberal lefty snowflakes, the forums lefties are spitting their dummy out.

There are a few things in the last handful of posts I'd have a comment on, except that this thread isn't in the politics and current affairs section, so I won't. It should be kept in its rightful place. The forum probably will die if this isn't maintained. Politics will always produce heated debates, but a little self-control goes a long way.
What puts me off somewhat is that people get too easily upset by someone who has a different view from theirs, and I'm talking about any subject posted anywhere at all now. If everyone were to agree with everyone else, there won't be much to discuss. Just because you don't agree with someone, doesn't mean you have to descend to the level of childish insults. I have been called a prick in someone's third or fourth post on this forum for a comment I made that I thought was pretty innocent, certainly by comparison to some I read here. Well, that new member would do well to read Korn's rules and advice about learning to understand the forum and the people on it a bit before jumping in with such remarks. If one is such a delicate little flower that even a comment such as I made brings on your rage face, it's perhaps better that you don't try to interact with anyone at all, ever, here or IRL.
It's probably also well to remember that comments one makes can easily be misinterpreted when you don't have the advantage of face-to-face and tone of voice to help with understanding someone's views and how they mean themselves to come across. ____________________ Chickenystripgeezer's Biking Life (Latest update 19/10/18) Belgium, France, Italy, Austria tour 2016 Picos de Europa, Pyrenees and French Alps tour 2017 Scotland Trip 1, now with BONUS FEATURE edit, 5/10/19, on page 2 Scotland Trip 2 Luxembourg, Black Forest, Switzerland, Vosges Trip 2017
