Perhaps an unusual requirement.

Artwork, size A3 (possibly later A2) needs to be transported, first by son on scooter, soon by son on Rieju RS3.

It needs to be preserved in pristine condition, in all weathers, and must not become grubby or wet or folded or dog-eared.

What's the answer? "Backpack portfolios" are available, but even the ones described as waterproof don't look very waterproof, not o a bike, anyway. A backpack portrfolio in something? Any helpful thoughts appreciated.

This was answered by a number of tutors when I was at uni with the following:

If I see one of these I will use it to clout you round the head with, this is not high school, have some pride in your work and do not put it in one of these things!

I've got a cycling pannier that will just take a plastic document folder, my plan for an interview later this week is to simply bungee it to the pillion seat and hope Very Happy

being cycling kit it is waterproof

Good enough for 6 figure salary architects but not for uni artsies Rolling Eyes

Guessing it's more to do with the different paper weight and the curling effects.

Think it's more to do with the fact that architects are often working on A1 which is impractical to carry around (it's awkward enough carrying B1 round a print floor and studio)

At A2 and A3 it's easier to carry flat and better for the artwork

It must not be allowed, in The Boy's case, to become grubby or dog-eared (as in the OP).

I'm beginning to favour a hard case in a waterproof bag.

TheDonUK in the "Recommend a backpack" thread mentions https://www.xlmoto.co.uk/course-slipstream-water-resistant-backpack but I don't know whether an A3 waterproof portfolio would fit inside it).

Got one of those laying about, if you want I can measure the internals later if you have something in mind to check it against.

Any backpack you want as long as it's secure. Documents inside it in an Ortleib document bag.

I keep maps in one, I also keep my mobile phone in an A5 one and go whitewater canoeing with it.

Whoy! If you could, that will be wonderful! I'm interested in the biggest flat rectangular size box shape that fits in easily without forcing the thing.

It won't. I have one.

Does it have to be transported once, or repeatedly?

If once, taxi.

If repeatedly, I'd second the document tube and just pack the normal portfolio case too, then swap containers before professor/tutor can see it.

A3 possibly, A2 not a chance.

The bag is an odd shape and is angled top and bottom. For example the widest internal width at the bottom is about 35cm, but at the top it’s only about 30cm.

Internal height is about 50cm and again the depth is variable, deepest part is about 17cm.

Wouldn’t recommend it for your purpose.
