Button Moon, Trap Door, DangerMouse, BagPuss, Ivor the Engine, The Clangers - these were pretty much the shows that framed my childhood.

Little House on the Prairie.

An episode where 'Pa' caught the rabies and was tied up to prevent infanticide. Cool

Mary became blind... Cool

Mrs Olsen.... Cool

Thinking back I didn't watch much telly but did go to the Saturday Matinee. Also thinking back I would've been 8 years old when I first started going by myself to meet up with mates and do the fire exit door trick. Then lots of scurrying on hands n knees up n down aisles. lobbing sweets at other kids...Only adults being the usher and the old hag who sold tubs of ice-cream at exorbitant prices.

After all that it was half n hour of Tom&Jerry and Mr Magoo then another part of Champion the Wonder Horse or the series where they had a talking shrunken head who wanted to go home.....WT actual!?!

About that time I was reading the James Herriot books and watched the films...At an early age I knew that books were better than the film....and snogging Fiona and toutching her bum was better than both.

Last ramble....

Ahh Fiona...we were ten...you played footy, could score goals and didn't cry when you got tackled (school had a playground with no grass to be seen).
Your kisses tasted of sweetshop...for some reason you had the key to the groundsman's hut in the nearby local park and took me there where we snogged.

Now the odd part.....

Ahh Fiona...we were in our 30s and I found you on a friendsreunited site...I emailed you....you replied.

I thought Captain Scarlet was awesome!

I did a couple of pages ago..

On the subject, I have most of Gerry Andersons stuff on DVD.. I don't have Dick Spanner or Secret Service but I have the rest of it.

I've never seen Dick Spanner, but I think dear old Gerry had taken a few contemporary mind expanding drugs, when he came up with the concept of The Secret Service.

If I were a collector, I'd have a copy to complete the set, but I can't imagine I would ever go out of my way to watch them, even for Century 21 it was beyond belief.

Down south, that sounds suspiciously like a euphamism, and also leads on to...

Down at the bottom of the garden,
Amongst the birds and the bees,
There lives a lot of little people,
They're called the Poddington Peas.

One of my earliest memories was of watching Button Moon.
And Dangermouse. And Batfink (HUGO AGOGO!) and Mighty Mouse (another banging theme tune).

Has no-one said Fraggle Rock? Yet another cracker of a tune. There is a punk/ska band that do it as a cover - really good.

We used to have the portable black and white telly on when we had tea, and the Flintstones was always on.

My favourite 1970s kids sci-fi "Children of the Stones". As creepy today as it was back then.
