One of the mainstays of the 5 minute slot that ended 'children's programmes' and immediately preceded the early evening news.

Others in that slot included The Herbs and, of course Magic Roundabout, which, like Hector's House, originated in France.

You could probably do a whole thread about stop frame animations for kids, but you have to mention the Trumptonshire trilogy and the Clangers.
