Hi, I'm changing the water pump on my 1987 Kawasaki gpz600. I see there is no gasket for this and it relies solely on the internal rubber seal, which I have a new replacement! Is it advisable to put some mastic between the 2 faces? If so what should I use? Regards Busby. Shocked

Similar in design the gpz900r variant, i rebuilt my pump and re-fitted it, just using some grease on the rubber seal to aid fitting/sliding the pump into the housing. A good seal, well fitted shouldn't leak.

The cog on the water pump needs to line up with its counterpart in the engine so make sure they do. If you can, leave the front face of the water pump off and spin the engine over to make sure the pump turns Thumbs Up
