Not sure if this comes under technical or general chat or rip off, however. My 1987 Kawasaki gpz600r thermostat head sender was playing up (the bit that feeds info to the temp gauge) So researching the web showed 2 options, genuine OME part around £30+ aftermarket part £20. Looking at the OME list I see this part was used in over 140 models!
Thinking a little outside the box I took it down to my local car factors and asked if they had anything similar? looking in the book of senders we found a perfect match at £7.00. Took it home stuck it in and low and behold it works perfectly. So why does it cost £30 from OEM and £20 for an aftermarket part????????????? |

Because they can?
The engine in my boat is a Vetus which is actually a Mitsubishi marinised by Vetus.
An oil filter with Vetus written on it is £11. he same filter can be had for under £5.
Most people don't bother checking, just buy what the manufacturer says. ____________________ Triumph Trophy Launch Edition |
