|
|
Got to work this morning and there was a bike in our company car park, clearly showing signs of being nicked and dumped; the ignition barrel broken with a snapped off key inside, seats ripped up (thieves looking for tracker), and generally looking like it had been down the road a few times.
It’s a small office and know all the guys who do ride, so I could quickly check that I wasn’t insulting a colleague and their latest purchase.
I notified the police and to be honest I wasn’t expecting such a quick response time. But within 2.5 hours the issue was resolved and the bike collected.
The bike was originally nicked back in March from the Islington area, some 20 odd miles from here. The bike had the frame number scratched off, and cloned plates for another bike registered in the north of Scotland.
The original owner bought the bike to commute to college, but only had Third Party, so I can imagine that was a real downer when it got nicked. However he was over the moon it was found, and can’t wait to get it back.

That is in a bad shape, however... third party only + £800-1000 should see it back on the road. Owners probably happy until they see the work to resolve it |

I bet owner is miffed it isn't a burnt out wreck. I would be. Once it's been stolen, truth told I don't want it back.
About 100 years ago I bought a SAAB 9000, it was pretty posh compared to the usual Dagenham dustbin.
Had a break in while on a night out, they levered the top of the door out, then broke the glass. Jemmied the glovebox
open, nicked a few bits and pieces and left. The walnut dash was damaged as was the top 'lid' of the dash. Fixed
the door and window but not the dash. The walnut was megabucks. Because I could see that whenever I drove it, it made
me lose the love for the car. Not the cars fault but it swiftly lost pride and joy status. It wasn't damaged before they got
to it, and now it was, I just couldn't feel the same about it. I replaced it with a mark 3 golf GTI soon after.
Rated helpful BTW, but I hope the owner sees it the same way. He may have already set his heart on a replacement. ____________________ Currently enjoying products from Ford, Mazda and Yamaha

What is it, z800? |
Yup, Z800 - 2016 model, but had plates for a 2014 model on it.
Tbh, I’m surprised it was left upright on the side stand, and parked so neatly in the bay! Especially given the state it’s in.
We have quite a problem round where I work with little scotes on two wheels. It’s not uncommon to see the usual signs every couple of weeks; two up on a moped, with the pillion openly carrying a weapon; bikes with no plates being ridden, and riders not wearing helmets etc.
They’ve come in to our car park previously trying to steal our bikes, but thankfully unsuccessful. ____________________ This is my motorcycle. There are many others like it, but this one is mine.
