This is one for the engineering folk among you.

I have a gpz900r with its stock 18 wheel setup.
I have a zzr1100 c wheel that i want to fit.
The wheels are not a simple straight swap so spacers and the carrier will need modifying

How and what do i need to measure to get the sprocket offset the same so that the chain lines up correctly.

I have an approach in my head but im interested to hear if anyone here has done a similar wheel swap and what their approach was.

Mount the wheel on the spindle in the swinging arm, no spacers or brake caliper holder. Put the chain on the sprocket and spin the wheel. it will self center. Then do your spacer measurements.

That is a start and not something I'd considered. Nice one

I've 'adapted' upteen wheels to different bikes, not failed me so far. Usually its the caliper hanger that needs the most work.

I tried sticking the wheel on the stock swingarm but the clearances were just too tight.

The stock rim and tyre are an 18x 140 and I am trying to fit a 17x180.
Its going to be a lot of faff. So I've got the zzr11 swingarm and I'm going to make that fit instead.
