Interesting and very relevant posts from Marjay and Chicken Strip.
I do like series and genre's of certain bikes and I think that's why I'd like complete sets of some bikes. It would be great and cost wise realistic to have an MTX, DT125LC, TSX, TSR KDX etc to go with my KMX. Would be nice to have the set and work on them and see how they went about things differently etc.
I'd love a collection of Italian sports bike 125's as that was a race to the moon for many years, and like MX bikes you had to bring out a new bike almost every year to compete.
Other styles of bikes I'd like to have a few of are big Naked muscle bikes. I don't have a favourite between say the ZRX1100, CB1000, and XJR1200 etc. But to have all of them would be interesting to me.
I've left out silly stuff like others are saying. I mean all three GP 500 replica sports bikes, sure it'd be nice to ride them all, but they are so over priced, over hyped and dated it's not worth spending the £25k it might cost to get them. Also if std bikes are your thing, then back in the day a GPZ600R would have probably out handled them and was 10mph slower if that. Those GP bikes are to me only worth anything because of their engines. They are the only relatively available big two stroke lumps ever made, and as such are only worth silly money in my mind for building big two stroke specials with.
I'd never want to collect 750 SP's or homologation specials like the RC30 and OW01, as for a road bike I don't know what they can offer over a VFR and YZF and spare cash to make the brakes and suspension tip top etc. |

I had a mate owned one of those when I had my FZ750. We swapped for a ride one time, and I didn't like the Kawasaki. It was odd, but I couldn't seem to get it to turn in nicely, it kept wanting to go wide on corners seemingly
I pretty much disregard sports bikes as I was never able to ride them after 1991, but if I could, actually, that's a series I'd like to go through, probably starting with the RC30 and OW01 - then early R1, Blade, through a few others to an early ZX10R and a couple of the top current ones. Fortunately, it's not something I can do! ____________________ Chickenystripgeezer's Biking Life (Latest update 19/10/18) Belgium, France, Italy, Austria tour 2016 Picos de Europa, Pyrenees and French Alps tour 2017 Scotland Trip 1, now with BONUS FEATURE edit, 5/10/19, on page 2 Scotland Trip 2 Luxembourg, Black Forest, Switzerland, Vosges Trip 2017

Affordable is relative. Could I go out and buy six desirable bikes right now. Probably not. At this point in my life, I'd
sooner collect houses than bikes, I barely get out on the bike I have now. It hasn't seen daylight since JUNE. I missed ALL
of the nice summer. Every single bit of it. ____________________ Currently enjoying products from Ford, Mazda and Yamaha

I'm a bit gutted that for the best summer weather we've had in ages, I haven't been able to get out on my bike much either. Oh well, got some good-weather riding in over in Europe last year, perhaps there'll be other good years still to come. ____________________ Chickenystripgeezer's Biking Life (Latest update 19/10/18) Belgium, France, Italy, Austria tour 2016 Picos de Europa, Pyrenees and French Alps tour 2017 Scotland Trip 1, now with BONUS FEATURE edit, 5/10/19, on page 2 Scotland Trip 2 Luxembourg, Black Forest, Switzerland, Vosges Trip 2017

Thing being is a VFR and YZF are not and never will be race bikes. Sticking trick suspension on a road bike isn’t the same. They are still too fat and civilised. |
If you only compare with their contemporaries. If you put a much more recent sports bike next to them, they'd certainly seem heavy and tame. Similarly, if you took a 'sports' bike from 10 years before, they'd seem light and nimble compared to those. My EXUP 1000 seemed flickable and fast when I had it in 1991. Now, I'm sure it'd seem ponderous, perhaps even compared to my modified Fazer, and certainly compared to, say, a Street Triple. ____________________ Chickenystripgeezer's Biking Life (Latest update 19/10/18) Belgium, France, Italy, Austria tour 2016 Picos de Europa, Pyrenees and French Alps tour 2017 Scotland Trip 1, now with BONUS FEATURE edit, 5/10/19, on page 2 Scotland Trip 2 Luxembourg, Black Forest, Switzerland, Vosges Trip 2017
