Hey guys,

Anyone have a service manual for a Honda Deauvlille 700 2008?
My FI light came up, and the flashes indicate a faulty CMP sensor, any idea where to find that on the bike and how much of the plastic I have to remove to get to it? Currently the bike is actually still uinder warranty, but I have to pay costs to get it back to the garage (40 miles away) if it's cheaper to buy and fit it myself I'll just do that Razz
I'm as mechanically minded as a fish, but even I can remove a plug, replace it and put the plastics back on.

I'd be wary of just replacing a sensor that the on-board computer says is bad, especially one relating to the camshaft position.

How does it know the sensor is bad vs the sensor telling you about a genuine position error that it just can't explain?

I recently bought a car that after a couple of months starting periodically throwing an error relating to the camshaft position sensor. The Sensor was replaced by the garage under warranty, but then the error came back.

In the end, it turned out that the cams and crank really were out of position with each other by a tiny amount, caused by the timing chain and gears wearing (at only 40k miles!) It would've cost about £10k in labour and parts to sort out, so I returned the car under the Consumer Rights Act.

For the cost of Van hire I'd be tempted to let them deal with it.

Take it back...warranty states it's buyers responsibility to transport bike to garage, I can't push it 40 miles Razz That and if they decide it's a 'serviceable or perishable item' at fault, it's not covered. shitty warranty Very Happy

It's neither a serviceable or perishable item but if getting it back
to the dealer is a problem the warranty is pretty useless and pointless.

As for a DIY swap its one screw and one plug but getting at it?
dunno RTFM I spose

FYI heres one we made earlier

Mind you
As its a 2008 bike, I'd clean the connectors first and see if that sorts it.
These EFI things can be pernickety about voltages and if the weather's got in as it does on manys an old bike that can cause
stuff to go a bit wonky.

True, I'll check the connections first, then I'll arrange transport to dealer if that doesn't fix I guess. If it's not classed as perishable or serviceable then I'm happy to get it to the dealer..I just didn't wanna pay transport then get charged out the arse for repairs too Very Happy
