I think a much more difficult area for robots is the AI/vision aspect. Making them 'move like a human' is really cool, but vision and interpreting surroundings is another step altogether. I know a guy who does computer vision for automated cars here in Chengdu. He showed me all the stuff he does, it's proper complex, based on the very latest published research papers, but at the same time it's still very primitive compared to what human eyes and brains can do. It'll certainly be difficult to have those robots replacing humans in danger zones. The robot has the advantage of withstanding heat, radiation etc, but for example I would not yet trust it to "cut the yellow wire to defuse the bomb".

I'd rather have a robot diffuse a bomb any day!

It's a bit like the Dr Who / Daleks and stairs thing. There will always be a cheap way to disable these robots - Third World countries will exploit those vulnerabilities. One way would be to spread fishing net over the ground and raise some portions with twigs. Perhaps spread glue and twigs around - that robot will be kicking its feet like a line dancer as it tries to dislodge the mess.
