Hi guys, been away due to lack of internet because of family problems.

Here's my problem:

Today on the way to work I am 100% sure that I was caught by a mobile camera van, in my car, doing at least 65mph maybe even 70mph in a 40mph zone.

From experience does anyone know what fine and how many points I can expect to receive from our friends in blue?

This is not from experience as I've been lucky in the last few years but I would've thought you'd get 3 points and £60 fine at least.

I was reliably informed by my sister who is a PC, that 70 in a 40 could be a ban. I thought it was double the limit, but apparently not.

This all came about after I got pulled for 67 in a 40. I was very lucky, I didn't even get a ticket.

Fingers crossed that you come in under the 70 mate.

Just been on www.speed-trap.co.uk which has some good advice and info. I reckon that with some crafty excuses and charactor references I could get away with no more than 6 points and a £120 fine. I hope the NIP (Notice of Intended Prosecution) doesn't come within 14 days as it is legally void by then!

If not I'll have to scrap the plans for a Suburu and a Hornet and make do with the bus!

I must admit to never having had a proper look at those vans. Obviously they have the forward facing camera that you drive towards, but do they also have a camera at the other end then?

Otherwise, they'd never get the registration numbers of the bikes?

I reckon you will get 3 points and a 60 pound fine for less than 30 over the limit although they would be within their rights to go for more. This would mean they would have to go to court though, which would cost them money. The 60 quid is easier money as they only have to send you a letter and all they are interested in is revenue generation.

If they offer a fixed penalty, take it.

You are unlikley to get a ban whatever.

They can face either way, some sneaky b*stards have one each end.

I think it's that it has to be sent to reasonably arrive within 14 days, or something to that effect. Providing they /tried/ they are ok from what I know.
