My flat got burgled and a load of keys taken, so today I will be taking a battery powered angle grinder to my Oxford monster chain (or padlock) to release my bike.

Tbh I'm conflicted - I want it to be hard to get through, but not too hard!

Did it not come with two keys and you keep one in a hidden away place?
Or is that just me?

Fair question but the burglar had time to go through all my belongings and took all keys to the padlock. I'll also be needing a new laser cut BMW key

I split each pair of keys I have and either keep one on me, or hidden somewhere pretty damn difficult to find. I hope you have some success, and a nasty disease befalls the perpetrator.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

Well, assuming he took the keys with a plan to come back.....

I imagine at some point in the not too distant future he will have a small accident with an angle grinder to the testicles...

Borrowed a DeWalt 18v grinder and it went through pretty easily. The disc was used but it was probably 60 seconds cutting time to get through the padlock bar, although I took much longer to avoid cutting the chain. I imagine it would have gone through the chain very easily indeed.

More worrying was that in the underground car park where I did it, and which is attended during the day, I was completely undisturbed...

It was an Oxford. They wouldn't need keys, just a Luke warm butter knife.

Shit news, definitely replace chain with something more secure though.

I never understood why people slated Oxford products as the gloves I got seemed fairly decent.... that was about a year ago.... and they've started to dissolve Rolling Eyes

Talk to the people who run the car park, and point that out to them in a pleasant friendly HELPFUL manner.
