Scooter?

Idly passing a few minutes, while waiting for the car to be MOT'd, (it passed), I spotted a poster on the wall of the garage.
It was a poster showing the history of Vespa scooters.
Hands up, I'm not a fan, but one did catch my eye, this one:-

A 1951 Vespa Siluro, built for a, standing kilometer, speed record attempt, it set a record of 106mph, on a motorway near Rome, different times!

Coo! In 1951!

I think there's an error in the information, though: "beat all standing kilometre records with a time of 21.4 seconds and an average speed of 171.1 km/h" perhaps ought to read "terminal speed of...."?

In the village I grew up on in the 70's all the older kids were scooter boys into ska. Although I prefer bikes, I still have a soft spot for scooters. Has to be Lambies or Vespas though, none of they modern types.
