So the electrical gremlins are back....
bike cut out and was dead to the world.
unplugged the cable to the solenoid to check the main fuse.
fuse was fine.
plugged the cable back in and it all works.

move the cable (which plugs into the solenoid) and electrics all die.
wiggle it again and its all alive.

so there is a break in the cable and i needs to repair it.

but im curious to know what are the 4 wires that go to the solenoid ?

i thought that the solenoid was basically a big electromagnet ?
So a high draw circuit, which is activated by a low draw circuit.

what i dont understand is why unplugging this cable kills all the electrics on the bike.
the solenoid also houses the main fuse, so it must be a little more complex that just the 2 circuits in action.

have found a wiring diagram.
it very much looks if the bikes + is taken from the relay for the rest of the bike with the exception of the ABS which seems to have its own + feed.

this explains why if the cable to the relay is unplugged the bike dies.
