Credit where is due, say what you like about the Vote Leave lot.

They’ve all left already.

The world's smallest violin player, just for you!

Why haven't you left?

Since the transition period hasn't started yet, it's a bit soon for a wet behind the ears product of the liberal education system to be saying that everything is going to go wrong.

Hope that kids leaves the UK. Laughing He should go wherever it is all the unhappy junior doctors who were srsly going to leave have gone.

I'm going to jump in, slightly off topic and tell folk a story. Unfortunately it agrees with mpd..

My Dad. He's 85 now. I visit him at every single opportunity. Dad has just one pleasure in life now - his colour TV. Dads mind is as sharp as a pin and he thinks clearly and rationally..
Yesterday Dad was sitting at home and incredibly frustrated. He couldn't contain himself and had to tell me - his beloved TV and the pleasure it brings has become unwatchable. The TV works fine but in Dads own words "I can't watch my telly any more son. It's full of shit and junk. They're ruined my TV shows. Is it true they've passed laws that tell them they have to show more blacks, disabled and gay people?"

Think about that. Dads only pleasure is his telly now and because production companies are trying to please everyone they've forgotten what their main priority actually is.
Think about a kids program. They plonk in someone in a wheelchair, people from every colour and even way OTT skinny gay men. That's just Balamory FFS. Even the likes of Coronation Street go far beyond what's normal in life and feel a need to over represent those people from all walks of life. I'm not against minorities (I'm one) but I am against TV stations crapping themselves and thinking they'd better represent that lot or they'll get a bollocking.
Think what Coronation Street was like 20 years ago - it portrayed a NORMAL world. We still had gays, we still had blacks, we still had the disabled. It's just back then they didn't shit themselves if a diversities officer looked at them..

My take:

Karen Bradley MP - Tory through and through, white woman and the Conservative's 'voice of reason', encouraging people to vote with the PM. Soundbite queen. No reason for her to exist.

Clive Lewis MP - Labour MP, mixed heritage, faked suicide in the Commons recently and was caught on camera. Would like the whole thing to collapse and Labour to win a general election. Came across as a knob.

Richard Walker - White MD of Iceland. Argued for clarity and for the PM's 'deal'. A business perspective.

Trevor Phillips - Black former Labour MP, famous for saying that even black people can be racist. On the board of John Lewis. Remainer. Very clever bloke and a pragmatist.

Julia Hartley-Brewer - White woman. Bit of a fox. Ardent supporter of Brexit. Argued that no deal is better than the one proposed.

So, 3 whites, one black and one inbetweenie. One TM Tory, one Labour, one businessman, one journalist and an all-rounder. Two for TM's deal, one for no deal, one for a general election and one remainer who presumably wants a general election as well.

All in all, a representative panel, didn't you think?

I count that as three, but only if you see May's deal as leaving which is debateable.

Understand the subtext - I said 3 'if you see May's deal as leaving...'.

I didn't suggest that I agreed with it.

Last night's QT panel:

Nadhim Zahawi - Tory minister, originally for Brexit, toeing the Party line. Non-white. Nothing interesting to say.

Rebecca Long-Bailey - Labour shadow-minister, remainer but toeing the party line. White, working class background. Nothing interesting to say.

Layla Moran - Lib-Dem MP, remainer, ex teacher. White. Nothing interesting to say.

Tim Martin - multi-millionaire head of 'Spoons, therefore responsible for people on pavements across Britain at 10.30am with a pint and a fag. For Brexit. White, probably an Aussie. Wants Boris as PM. Sees Brexit as an opportunity. Interesting bloke to listen to.

Benjamin Zephaniah - poet, rasta, vegan dude. Black. Didn't give a view on Brexit. Not entirely sure what he contributed to the discussion.

So, 3 white, one black, one (possibly) Indian, one supporting TM, 3 against, one with no clear opinion but doesn't eat fish.

Seems like a reasonable spread. Awaiting MPG's accusation of BBC bias. 3,2,1.....

It was a bit of a Nadhim Zahawi show though.

Dimbleby does need to cut them off more when they go into full blown speech mode.

Udp, always looking for the conspiracy...

What he said last night was that he remembered a conversation with the late, great Tony Benn who you will doubtless recall was both left-wing and anti our membership of the EU, where Mr Benn described how we needed to leave before we got so intermeshed that we couldn't. Doesn't matter which way you lean on the debate, Tony Benn was right about the practicality of leaving. This view conflicted with his natural inclination to stay but still resonates with him, so he is in two minds about the whole thing.

As long as you think the only option is agree nothing at all, you will always think that anybody with a different view is against you, therefore the BBC will always be at the forefront of a conspiracy.

The only thing that made sense last night was the view of Mr 'Spoons, that our negotiating position would have been stronger if we had started from the baseline of 'no deal' and let the EU come to us with concessions.

For the view of a black vegan poet. The broader the view, the more entertaining the discussion and the more informative it can be for the likes of you and I. Not complicated.

You will love who is on next week - your old mate, laughing boy incarnate, Will Self. He genuinely is anti-Brexit so I expect an ardent Brexiteer also for balance. Lets see what the Beeb does....

The questions were about Brexit rather than socialism v neo-classical economics. As you know, Left Wing views are divided on this subject. If anything, the further to the left one goes, the more one agrees with Brexit so if he were chosen for extreme political views, this contradicts your argument about impartiality.

It is leaving. How can "The Treaties shall cease to apply to the State in question"[1] AND "The European Communities Act 1972 is repealed"[2] not mean leaving?

Still, we've been through that before. Some people just won't believe it, and discussing it won't be productive.

[1] EU's Article 50 of the Treaty of Lisbon. "Treaty of Nice, Treaty of Amsterdam, Treaty of Maastricht, Single European Act".

[2] UK's European Union (Withdrawal) Act 2018.

I can only assume this research was BBC funded.

Not sure I trust them anymore...

How are other European cities tackling pollution?

Madrid is not the only European city to focus on improving its air quality. Paris, Madrid, Mexico City and Athens have all pledged to ban diesel vehicles from city centres by 2025.
