As a righter then left person I'm not anti police. I think they have been forced into things the don''t agree with, Forced to be PC. Underfunded but then they do this.

Sussex PCs used baton and Taser on elderly man in wheelchair

The 93-year-old, who had dementia and one leg, was said to be threatening staff with a knife on 21 June.

Whats the betting their proceedure sheets say against a 90 year old with one leg
1) Has he a knife? Pepperspray
2) knife in vicinity? Hit him hard with trunceon.
3) Make sure, Tazer him.

I’ll bet the officers involved feel good about themselves?
That’ll be a story to tell thier grandchildren, about how they dealt with a a ‘knife wielding thug’.
How pussy must the officers involved be if they need to use spray, batons, cuffs to overwhelm a 93 year old who’s in a wheelchair and only has one leg?

Easier than dealing trouble making yoof innit.

There's been a shift in police culture / attitudes to general public over the course of about 15 years I'd say. Friendly / approachable servant of the public to hard nosed, self-righteous picker-onner of the weak and feeble.

Would you, for example, expect a friendly response if you asked a bobby on the beat for directions? If you could find one LOL.

Yet in 2020 they were out in force detaining grannies strolling the promenade, and this last couple of months have handcuffed a load of folk for 'causing anxiety' with some naughty words on the internet.

Well, the wheelchair adds a level of difficulty because he wasn't going to be able to throw himself off a bridge after being tazed.

If anyone did that it would be a murder charge. How can it be merely excessive force if he died?

The cause of death is still being investigated, there'll be an inquest first.
